[Special Report] Gathering at Yangpu to Discuss the 2024 AI Large Model Innovation Development at the Tsinghua Shanghai Automation Annual Meeting Held in Yangpu March 18,2024
On the afternoon of March 16, the 2024 AI Large Model Innovation Development Seminar and Tsinghua Shanghai Automation Annual Meeting took place in Yangpu. The event was attended by Zhou Haiying, Deputy Secretary of the Yangpu District Committee and District Mayor; Zhang Tao, President of the Tsinghua Alumni Automation Branch and Director of the Department of Automation at Tsinghua University; Gu Jin, Secretary-General of the Tsinghua Alumni Automation Branch and Party Secretary of the Department of Automation at Tsinghua University; Qin Weifang, President of the Shanghai Tsinghua Alumni Association and Chairman of Huahong Jitong; Su Weimin, Supervisor of the Shanghai Tsinghua Alumni Association and Senior Director of Signify in the Asia Pacific; Han Wei, Vice President and Secretary-General of the Shanghai Tsinghua Alumni Association and Vice President of Tus Holdings; Song Anlan, Director of the Automation Committee of the Shanghai Tsinghua Alumni Association and Partner at SoftBank China Venture Investment Co., Ltd.; Yu Kai, Deputy Director of the Automation Committee of the Shanghai Tsinghua Alumni Association, Professor at the Computer Department of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Founder of AISPEECH; Zhang Haixiao, Vice President of the Shanghai Overseas Returned Scholars Association; Zhang Jinsheng, Implementation President of Tus Holdings and Chairman of TusStar; along with experts and scholars from the large model field, enterprise representatives, and Tsinghua alumni.
Zhou Haiying warmly congratulated the opening of the 2024 AI Large Model Innovation Development Seminar and expressed his sincere respect and heartfelt thanks to the Shanghai Tsinghua Alumni Association and the vast number of Tsinghua alumni who have long cared for, supported, and participated in the development of Yangpu. He stated that Yangpu is currently building an innovation-oriented modern industrial system with the digital economy as the core driver, supported by "Intelligent +" and "Internet +," with artificial intelligence being one of the four emerging tracks Yangpu is focusing on. He looks forward to further deepening collaboration with Tsinghua, better consolidating alumni strength, exploring alumni resources, jointly promoting the innovation and application of artificial intelligence technology, injecting new vitality into the region's high-quality development, and composing a new chapter. Yangpu will also diligently provide service guarantees, offering a stage and space for Tsinghua alumni to achieve great ambitions.
Zhang Tao stated in his address that AI large models are a hot topic and frontier issue in the field of artificial intelligence, bringing about significant changes in the paradigm of scientific research. He expressed hope that the government would strongly support the development of the large model field, deepen industry-university-research collaboration, and apply cutting-edge theories, research, and technology in practical scenarios. The Tsinghua Alumni Association's Automation Branch will continue to care for and support the broad alumni community in their work, life, and entrepreneurial endeavors on this fertile ground in Shanghai.
Qin Weifang stated in his address that he hopes today's seminar will help more people understand the AI large model industry and better prepare to meet the challenges it brings. The Tsinghua University Shanghai Alumni Association will always adhere to the principles of serving alumni, serving the alma mater, and serving the local economic development, better fulfilling its role as a bridge and link to make greater contributions to the economic and social development of Shanghai.
Song Anlan stated in his address that the development of artificial intelligence will have a profound impact on the future of technological development. He hopes that today's in-depth discussions and intellectual exchanges will inspire and provoke thought, exploring new directions for the development of the artificial intelligence field.
At the meeting, the "Tsinghua Automation Shanghai Alumni Activity Base" was inaugurated with Song Anlan and Han Wei unveiling the base, while Gu Jin and Zhang Jinsheng witnessed the ceremony.
The annual meeting was hosted by Professor Yu Kai.
During the keynote speech segment, leading experts and entrepreneurs from Tsinghua University's Department of Automation, MetaX Circuits, Tongji University XAI Experience Intelligent Lab, and Redpoint China Ventures shared their expertise around academic directions, industry trends, technological trends, and investment directions.
Before the meeting, Zhou Haiying had a cordial discussion with guests from the Tsinghua Alumni Association, where they engaged in deep conversations about further promoting industry-university-research collaboration, innovation in talent development, and the transformation of scientific and technological achievements.
It is noted that the Department of Automation at Tsinghua University was established in May 1970 and has always been committed to training high-quality talent focused on the nation's major needs and strategic objectives. In recent years, Yangpu has become a hotbed for investments by Tsinghua alumni, with outstanding enterprises such as TusStar (Shanghai), Qingbo Intelligence, and Polestones, founded and operated by alumni, thriving in Yangpu and making significant contributions to Yangpu’s innovative transformation. Especially in 2023, Yangpu hosted several activities such as "Surging Pujiang·Yang Fan Sets Sail" Tsinghua Alumni Enterprises Viewing Yangpu, the Tsinghua University Shanghai Alumni Association Annual Meeting, and the "Qingfen Class" visiting Yangpu. The Shanghai Institute of Mathematics and Interdisciplinary Research, chaired by Shing-Tung Yau, a scholar from Qiuzhen College, Tsinghua University, was also inaugurated in Yangpu.
