In the new practice of the "People's City," Yangpu's Lifestyle Show Belt continuously sends a "new breeze," letting citizens and tourists "enjoy the city."

New Experiences Ignite New Demands, What New Ways to Play Does "Digital Yangpu" Have?

Sports Fever "Ignites" Consumption, Sparking "Integration Power"

"After seeing it on TV, my child was very interested, so I brought him here to experience it up close during the summer vacation." Recently, Ms. Wang, a citizen, brought her child to the KIC sunken plaza to watch the competition with great interest. Children's breakdance challenge competitions, American football games, and Pickleball challenge matches, combining spectacle and interaction, attracted many citizens to stop and watch, creating a lively atmosphere on-site.

From Jiangwan Stadium to the University Road time-limited pedestrian street, stretching about 1.2 kilometers, this area, which already had a high innovation density, became even more "refreshing" and full of heat due to the landing of the 2024 Shanghai "Sports Publicity Week" and the "YOUNG Pu Summer Night" sports consumption lifestyle festival.

"This is the world's first skateboard replicated by our museum. In the 1950s, on the coast of Southern California, United States, local surfing enthusiasts made this skateboard to practice surfing on land. At that time, it was just a wooden board with two rows of roller skate iron wheels attached underneath." Inside the transparent exhibition hall, staff member Tian Jie is explaining an exhibit—on University Road, the "mobile museum" created by the Shanghai Sports Museum is a popular check-in spot. Here, citizens can learn about the 4 newly added Olympic events of breakdance, rock climbing, skateboarding, and freestyle BMX at zero distance.

Driven by the "Olympic fever," our district further promotes the deep integration of commercial, tourism, cultural, and sports exhibitions, stimulating the enthusiasm for national fitness while injecting hot and boiling vitality into the consumer market.

Statistical data shows that since the beginning of this year, the search volume for "breakdance" on Meituan has increased by 107.8% year-on-year, and the number of relevant note strategies has increased by 150%; in July, the search volume for sports activities increased by 180% compared to the same period in June, with male consumers accounting for 66% and consumers aged 20-35 being the main force.

"Recently, swimming and bicycle products in the store have been selling particularly well," said Yang Zhenyu, operations manager of Decathlon (Wujiaochang store). "On the two days of the weekend, our store's customer flow increased by about 6% compared to last week."

During the event, well-known Shanghai brands such as Warrior, Bright Dairy, and Oriental Shopping entered the scene one after another. Meituan and the Shanghai Branch of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China launched a sports-themed payment discount activity, and our district continued to distribute sports consumption vouchers... According to the latest statistical data, the customer flow of The Next Station on the two days of the weekend was close to 80,000 person-times, an increase of 18.6% compared to the daily average on weekdays. The customer flow on University Road on the two days of the weekend was about 47,000 person-times, an increase of 36% compared to the daily average on weekdays.

The 1.2-kilometer stretch has become a vivid window for our district to interpret the concept of "travel following events." In the future, our district will continue to promote the prosperous development of the sports consumption market and contribute to the construction of Shanghai as a globally renowned sports city.

As the lights come on, there are quite a few citizens waiting outside "The Story of Chuaner" experience store (University Road store). The person in charge, Long Junliang, is surprised to see his junior high school math teacher among the crowd. "On the University Road time-limited pedestrian street, the pedestrian flow is relatively high on weekends, but it used to be mainly surrounding residents." After the recent few professional sports events, Long Junliang found that more and more diners are coming from other districts. Most of them are sports enthusiasts who come to dine and rest in the surrounding area after participating in an activity. "New experiences ignite new demands. We hope there will be more and more 'ways to play' like this to help the catering industry steadily recover."

Promoting the Establishment of a Service Consumption Alliance, "Enjoying the City" Has an "Exploration Plan"

Nowadays, our district is committed to promoting culture to drive tourism, sports to boost commerce, commerce to support culture, and advancing the joint development of commercial, tourism, cultural, and sports exhibitions, the mutual promotion of commodities and services, and the integration of brands and scenarios.

According to the introduction, from August to December, our district will launch over a hundred commercial, tourism, cultural, and sports activities, with 51 key activities—the College Students Tourism Festival, the National Fitness Week, and others will be further upgraded based on previous experience. The District Cultural Arts Center, Dunhuang Contemporary Art Museum, and others will open. The "Listen to the Tide of the River" series of music concerts, the Riverside International Beer Festival, and other activities will be held for the first time. "GOGO GOODS," "MINISO × Little Worm," and others will have their first launches and exhibitions...

The District Publicity Department, the District Commerce Commission, the District Culture and Tourism Bureau, the District Sports Bureau, and other departments have jointly established a service consumption promotion alliance with leading internet enterprises and commercial complexes, launching the "Enjoying the City Exploration Plan," focusing on three parts—three enjoyment activities: fun travel, fun shopping, and fun sports; three major guides: check-in maps for Wujiaochang, Yangpu Riverside, and Kongjiang Road areas; three actions: establishing an alliance, innovating scenarios, and providing super value benefits;

On the one hand, by strengthening collaboration between the government, associations, and enterprises, building an online and offline accelerated integration and mutually beneficial platform, expanding the "circle of friends" in commercial, tourism, cultural, and sports sectors, and forming a distinctive, complementary, and resource-sharing integrated development system for commercial, tourism, cultural, and sports industries; on the other hand, digging up more "treasure" resources in Yangpu, providing citizens and tourists with more consumption and entertainment scenarios, and creating new city charm calling cards.

15 Minutes, with Both "Seasonal Specials" and "Evergreen Offerings"

Quota "Sold Out in Seconds," Caring Summer Childcare Class Second Phase Allows More Children to Enjoy the Summer

At a little past 7 am, the volunteers of the Xinjiangwancheng Sub-district summer childcare class are "on duty" early, waiting for the arrival of parents and children. Bao Huiying, a preschool education student from Shanghai International Studies University, is among them. Last year, she participated in the Xinjiangwancheng Sub-district winter childcare class activity as a volunteer. This year, she signed up for two phases of summer childcare volunteer service work. After the second phase of the Yangpu District Primary School Students Caring Summer Childcare Class opened, Bao Huiying became the class director of Class 3 in the second phase of the Xinjiangwancheng Sub-district summer childcare class.

With previous experience, Bao Huiying was even more prepared this time. She said, "For example, when school is out, we will communicate with parents in advance in the group, organize the children to pack their schoolbags early, and wait in the air-conditioned hall to reduce their waiting time in the high temperature."

Shen Mingzhu, a staff member of the Xinjiangwancheng Sub-district Youth League Committee, introduced that the sub-district's second phase of the summer childcare class recruited a total of 63 interns and set up 3 classes according to grade levels, with volunteers assigned to each class at a ratio of 1:5. Even so, the summer childcare class is still in short supply. "On the day of open enrollment, it was almost fully booked in 1 second."

It is understood that as the only "double contact point" for grassroots legislation of the Shanghai Municipal People's Congress and the Shanghai Municipal Government, Xinjiangwancheng Sub-district has always been committed to carrying out diverse online and offline publicity and legal education activities. The first phase of the "double contact point" extended the reach of legal education to the caring summer childcare class, launching the "Xinxin Legal College" legal education four lectures, which were well-received by parents. In the second phase, more diverse courses were introduced on this basis, such as the "Fire Extinction and Escape Knowledge Lecture," "National Style and Elegance: Ancient Poetry and Song Singing," "How Chinese Animation 'Goes Viral'—The Journey of 'Two Creations' Thought and Cultural Animation Heritage," and others.

In addition, this year's caring summer childcare class brings together forces from various sectors such as district enterprises, college students, and socially-minded individuals, comprehensively improving service quality in terms of teaching staff, health and safety, food safety, and activity delivery, alleviating the "difficulty of care" while building a platform for children to broaden their knowledge and communicate with peers, making their summer life more fulfilling and joyful.

"Generally, when they come in the first week, everyone doesn't talk much, but by the third week, they will be playing together and even adding each other on WeChat, agreeing to go out and play together after the end of the program," said Qin Ruiyuan, the volunteer team leader.

Community Reading Network Adds New Recruits, "Catching" the Reading Needs of More Residents

Compared to the "seasonal" nature of the caring summer childcare class, the "Reading Season" series of activities recently launched by the Xinjiangwancheng Sub-district belongs to the "evergreen" category.

The "Reading Season" includes four cultural themed activities: the "Voice of the New City" audio reading activity, the "Book Recitation in the New City" classic recitation activity, the "Book Fragrance in the New City" poetry and idiom conference, and the "Delightful New City" art exhibition, deeply promoting reading for all and enhancing the reading enthusiasm and cultural literacy of the residents, improving the cultural quality of the community.

The annual Shanghai Book Fair has arrived as scheduled, and the construction of a book-fragrant society is deepening. Book lovers continue to "read" the beauty in countless encounters with books. On the day of the launch of the "Reading Season" series of activities, the Xinjiangwancheng Sub-district Library, the Xueyue Fengyong Book Society, the Renheng Yiting Residents Learning Point Reading Room, and the District Songhu Fire and Rescue Station were awarded the title of "People's City · Reading Station," further improving the community reading network, making richer reading resources "within reach" of the residents.

The relevant person in charge of the Xinjiangwancheng Sub-district introduced that for many years, the sub-district has used the characteristic brand of "Four Seasons of New City Culture" as a starting point, focusing on the construction of a "15-minute community life circle," continuously improving the cultural soft power of the community, and making every effort to build a harmonious community of co-governance, co-construction, and sharing. This "Reading Season" series of activities has a positive function in further promoting the exchange and integration of communities, parks, commercial districts, camps, and school districts. "In the future, the sub-district will continue to promote the construction of a large community cultural brand, allowing the results of cultural construction to benefit the lives of residents and increase the sense of gain, happiness, and belonging of the residents."
