The Fifth Anniversary of the "People's City": Talent Show Belt, Creating a "Innovation Matrix" for Talent Attraction August 19,2024
This year marks the fifth anniversary of the proposal of the "People's City" concept. As the birthplace of this concept, Yangpu is witnessing the vigorous development of the digital economy and the vibrant pulse of life. Let's experience this increasingly "YOUNG" People's City together...
The new practice of Yangpu's "People's City" and the construction of the "15-minute employment service circle" complement each other in creating a "talent show belt."
This summer, another batch of college students from Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao came to our district to participate in the "Entrepreneurship Internship Summer Camp." Those aspiring to start businesses fully felt the innovation and entrepreneurship atmosphere of our district. "Young people's ideas are all novel, and most importantly, our district has the conditions to make these novel ideas a reality"; "During the internship, I felt a great technological atmosphere and was able to work with many industry 'big shots,'" said a Beihang University graduate who chose a Yangpu technology retail enterprise among many offers. Recently, the enterprise has launched campus recruitment for the class of 2025, customizing a "growth package" for campus recruits; 11 high-quality enterprises and 49 types of employment positions, with an employment guidance service zone set up. Whether veterans, military wives, or fresh graduates, they can all obtain "employment services at their doorstep" at the job fair held by the sub-district...
At present, our district has taken the lead in promoting the integrated reform of the education and technology talent system and mechanism, creating a talent development environment that is attractive near and far, makes the best use of people's talents, and bursts with vitality. How does the talent show belt create an "innovation matrix" for talent attraction?
"If There Is a Suitable Opportunity, I Really Want to Work and Live Here"
Taam Sin Ji is from Macao, China. In August this year, it was her first time coming to Shanghai. The purpose of this trip was not tourism but to participate in the 2024 Entrepreneurship Internship Training Camp for College Students from Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao in Yangpu. "I hope that through this entrepreneurship internship training camp, I can understand the development history of outstanding enterprises in our district and the deep cultural heritage of our district. If there is a suitable opportunity, I really want to work and live here." She was both excited and thrilled at the opening ceremony.
We learned that nearly 30 college students participated in this entrepreneurship internship training camp. 8 enterprises became their "internship bases," planning and teaching topics, arranging teaching instructors, and providing internship positions in various fields such as commerce, finance, internet technology, and new media art. During the internship period, there were also experts from the Shanghai Entrepreneurship Guidance Expert Volunteer Group to interpret policies and answer questions for them. Currently, the internship training camp has concluded.
Taam Hou Hei from Macao joined a subsidiary of Shanghai Luoman Technologies Inc. to undertake a new project. Taam Hou Hei said that he aspired to start a business, and during the internship training camp, he fully felt the innovation and entrepreneurship atmosphere of our district. "Young people's ideas are all novel, and most importantly, our district has the conditions to make these novel ideas a reality."
Establishing the city's first Shanghai Taiwan College Students Entrepreneurship Training Base, taking the lead in extending the talent apartment (public rental housing) policy to Taiwan compatriots, including Taiwan compatriots studying overseas in the "3310 Overseas High-Level Talent" introduction plan, and holding college students' summer entrepreneurship internship training camps for many consecutive years... In recent years, our district has continuously deepened exchanges and collaboration with Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao, actively carrying out explorations in serving youth entrepreneurship and employment.
The relevant person in charge of the District Taiwan Affairs Office said that in the future, our district will further improve and expand the platforms and channels for serving innovation and entrepreneurship, introduce more supporting policies benefiting youth entrepreneurs from Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao, attract more talents to unleash their youth and realize their value in our district, and let them rush towards each other with this "dual innovation" hotspot and achieve together.
Working with Many Industry "Big Shots," Our District Enterprises Customize "Growth Packages" for Campus Recruits
Bao Mengjiao, a graduate of the School of Computer Science and Technology at Beihang University, joined Meituan through the "Beidou Plan" in 2020. Currently, he works in the Dianping Intelligent Interaction team, engaged in large model-related work. Three years after joining the company, he has transformed from an individual contributor to a manager.
At the 2024 International Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining Competition (abbreviated as "KDD Cup"), Bao Mengjiao and his team won 3 championships, which was the first victory for the team using the BlackPearl technology brand. Bao Mengjiao said that he felt a great technological atmosphere during his internship and was able to work with many industry big shots, so he chose Meituan among many offers.
Meituan's campus recruitment for the class of 2025 has recently been launched. This recruitment targets fresh graduates from domestic and overseas colleges and universities graduating between November 2024 and October 2025, with an expected recruitment of 6,000 people, covering 10 major categories of positions and more than 100 types of positions in technology, product, business analysis, supply chain, etc., spanning dozens of cities across the country and overseas. With the continuous expansion of Meituan's overseas business, many overseas positions have also started to open up to campus recruits this year, with work locations including cities such as Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
It is reported that from July 29 to the end of October, university graduates can apply for positions through the Meituan recruitment official website and the "Meituan Recruitment" Official Account. For the "Beidou Plan" targeting global top-notch campus technology talents, the number of recruitment positions has increased by 50% year-on-year. Since the launch of the "Beidou Plan" in 2017, Meituan has introduced more than 100 talents. The "Beidou Plan" provides a space for young technology talents to showcase their abilities through rich business landing scenarios, a relatively complete and mature training mechanism, a competitive salary system, and leading per capita computing resources.
Recently, the first batch of Meituan's 2024 campus recruits completed a 3-day offline full-time training. By formulating a "seedling campus recruit growth plan" for campus recruits and assigning mentors, it helps them quickly complete the transition from students to workplace individuals.
"More and more campus recruits are showing strong innovation capabilities and huge potential at work. Many of them have experienced training and promotion in various positions and have grown into the 'mainstay' of the company," said the relevant person in charge of Meituan recruitment.
In the past three years, Meituan has absorbed an average of more than 5,000 graduates each year. This year, Meituan plans to hold nearly 200 on-campus presentation activities to communicate closely with university graduates; at the same time, it uses digital recruitment methods to provide online job-seeking guidance services. In addition, in recent years, Meituan has actively explored intelligent approaches in various recruitment links to enhance the interview experience of candidates. Last year, it also tried to reach more university graduates through methods such as launching campus recruitment "takeaway stores" on the platform.
The relevant person in charge of Meituan recruitment said that as a technology retail enterprise, Meituan will continue to create employment opportunities for campus recruits, and at the same time, customize "growth packages" for their development needs, allowing campus recruits to start their careers in a good atmosphere and grow rapidly in a broad development space.
"Job Transfer Stations" Right at the "Doorstep"
Tang Xiangping, 24 years old this year, is a veteran. With an outgoing personality and a love for interacting with people, he is looking for a sales job. Recently, at the "15-minute employment service circle" veterans and military wives special job fair held by Changhai Road Sub-district, within half an hour, Tang Xiangping completed the first round of interviews with two enterprises and left his resume. "Offline job fairs, compared to job-seeking apps, are more efficient and reliable. I think this is a great platform for us veterans, and I hope there can be more of these in the future for the convenience of job seekers," Tang Xiangping said.
We learned that this job fair brought together 11 high-quality enterprises, including Beijing Wangpin Information Technology Co., Ltd. Shanghai Branch, Shanghai Wenfang Trading Co., Ltd., and Shanghai Jisan Industrial Co., Ltd., offering 49 types of job positions such as sales consultants, new media operators, HR specialists, docents, property water and electricity workers, and catering canteen chefs, with a total recruitment requirement of 183 people.
In addition to veterans and military wives, there were also many fresh graduates actively participating on-site. Ms. Zhao, who graduated with a master's degree this year, browsed through all the recruitment booths. "After hearing about this job fair at the sub-district's employment space, I hurried over," she said. "I had previously participated in the job-seeking skills training camp organized by the employment space, which was a great help. Now I actively match positions according to the requirements of enterprises and actively seek employment."
According to statistics, this job fair attracted a total of 81 participants, including veterans, military wives, and other unemployed youth in the community. 49 interview resumes were received, and after preliminary interviews, employers reached an intention to hire 22 people.
It is worth mentioning that the job fair site had an employment guidance service area, with Zou Meiying, the district's chief employment guidance expert, providing personalized policy consultation and career planning guidance for job seekers. Subsequently, the Changhai Qiujiang Chuangwan Employment Space will continue to focus on the situation of the intended hires and provide good follow-up services.
Creating a "15-minute employment service circle" is to provide more considerate "doorstep services" for all job seekers. In the future, the Changhai Qiujiang Chuangwan Employment Space will further strengthen collaboration with enterprises, integrate social resources, give full play to the function of the public employment service platform, and construct an employment service system that integrates "policy publicity, skills training, job recommendation, and follow-up services," taking multiple measures simultaneously to promote high-quality and full employment.
