The Fifth Anniversary of the "People's City": A Project in Our District Has New Progress Again, Structure Capping May Be Achieved Ahead of Schedule August 16,2024

Recently, the Shanghai Science and Technology Innovation Source project, the "headquarters community" of Yangpu's digital economy, entered the "acceleration period" of construction. The foundation pit stage construction has been fully completed, and the steel structure erection is steadily progressing. With the continuous increase of building floors in some plots, it is expected that the main structure will be capped by the end of October, completing the construction "progress bar" two months ahead of the original plan.

"Reality + Virtual" Digital Technology Empowers Major Engineering Construction

The Shanghai Science and Technology Innovation Source project is located in the Jiangwan Historical and Cultural Scenic Area, planned to the east of Guojing Road, west of Zhayin Road, south of plot 014-02, and north of Yingao East Road, with a total area of about 146,000 square meters. It consists of 2 historical preservation buildings and 7 new buildings and is the most prominent important carrier in our district for the city's focused construction of the "Middle Ring Digital Industry Innovation Belt."

Since the groundbreaking in July 2023, the project construction has been in full swing. Currently, the above-ground core tube of the north plot has reached 9F, and the steel structure has reached 3F; the above-ground core tube of the south plot has reached 3F. The overall plan of the project is to complete the structural capping of the north plot by the end of October and the structural capping of the south plot by the end of December, simultaneously starting the construction of mechanical and electrical installation and exterior facade curtain walls. The reason why this major engineering project in Yangpu District is progressing rapidly also benefits from the innovative application of digital technology.

At the construction site of the Shanghai Science and Technology Innovation Source, tower cranes stand tall, and on-site workers are sweating profusely. Supervision engineers are shuttling between buildings, occasionally raising tablets in their hands, forming a sharp contrast with the ubiquitous steel and concrete infrastructure. The General Manager of Shanghai Shuyu Yundu Technology Development Co., Ltd. said that the project site is using project information management technology and "BIM+AR" technology to carry out engineering quality acceptance.

Relying on the support of AR technology, the BIM building model is projected 1:1 onto the construction site, making the building structure visualized, and the relationship between components and real space becomes more intuitive and perceptible. The construction process achieves full traceability. This "reality + virtual" technology application realizes the digital transformation of major engineering construction, breaks the "last mile" from BIM model to construction, and also presses the "acceleration key" for project construction.

We learned that this cutting-edge technology is the digital technology product "Onesight® AR·Construction Assistant" innovatively developed by Yangpu District's science and technology innovation enterprise Onesight Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. In May this year, the "Onesight® AR·Construction Assistant Pro Edition" based on Apple Vision Pro glasses and the VisionOS operating system officially debuted. Currently, discussions and negotiations are underway for in-depth testing in the Shanghai Science and Technology Innovation Source project.

In recent years, our district has adhered to the innovation-driven development strategy, deepened the "three-zone linkage," developed new quality productive forces according to local conditions, and made every effort to build a "1+2+3+4" innovation-oriented industrial system, embarking on a path of transformation and upgrading from "Industrial Yangpu" to "Innovative Yangpu." Among them, a total of about 1,200 high-tech enterprises such as Onesight Technology have been cultivated, ranking first among Shanghai's central urban districts. These small but specialized high-tech enterprises, relying on advanced innovation technology, are continuously feeding back into the high-quality development of the region, further promoting the transformation and upgrading of the real economy.

One Side Technology, One Side Humanities, "Science and Technology Innovation Ecosystem Park" Takes Shape

When talking about the "characteristics" of the Shanghai Science and Technology Innovation Source project, the project leader gave eight words: "one side technology, one side humanities."

Unlike traditional business parks, the Shanghai Science and Technology Innovation Source plot also preserves two historical protection buildings from the Republic of China period. One is the "China Engineers Association Industrial Materials Testing Institute" at No. 274 Minjing Road, initiated by Zhan Tianyou and designed by Dong Dayou, and the other is the "Modern Garden Residence" at No. 200 Minjing Road.

How to create a source of modern science and technology innovation while preserving historical features is the top priority of project planning. To this end, the project takes culture as the fulcrum and urban space as the orientation, adopting the method of "cross-street and garden introduction," organically integrating office buildings, commerce, and cultural and sports facilities, creating a science and technology innovation community model that integrates historical accumulation, international perspective, design innovation, and commercial value. It echoes the humanistic texture of the old buildings and achieves a natural connection of urban renewal.

Science and technology innovation, vitality, green, ecosystem... Shanghai Science and Technology Innovation Source is not only an innovation space for sparking inspiration but also a cultural community for people to release their sense of happiness. In order to meet the growing diverse activity needs of each user, the project specially implanted rich activity scenes such as memorial squares, Shanghai-style gardens, winding water courtyards, flowing cloud corridors, and art exhibition lawns, realizing the diverse integration of cultural blocks and science and technology innovation scenes.

Watching an outdoor performance in the winding water courtyard, strolling through a science and technology innovation market in the flowing cloud corridor, having afternoon tea in the Shanghai-style garden... By then, the "science and technology innovation ecosystem park" where people and nature live in harmony is bound to become another new hot check-in spot in our district.

It is reported that the project will be basically completed by the end of 2025 and will be finished and handed over for operation in the second quarter of 2026. Let's look forward to it together!
