Another Beautiful Scenery Has Been Added to the Streets of Our District! The Corner "Wei" Garden Meets Pedestrians and Residents!

The green space at the southeast corner of the intersection of Huangxing Road and Guoquan East Road covers an area of about 2,334 square meters and belongs to the affiliated green space of units. Previously, there was a one-meter-high retaining wall on the north and west sides of the green space, and 3-meter-high coral green hedges were planted, making it a non-accessible green space with severely obstructed sight lines.

We learned from the Municipal Greening and Appearance Bureau of the district that in order to actively respond to the plan of opening and sharing the affiliated green spaces of Shanghai units and promote the opening of affiliated green spaces of units, in November 2023, riding the momentum of the Guoquan (East) Road (Siping Road - Shuangyang North Road) Beautiful Block Project, the district greening department communicated with the relevant responsible persons of RT-Mart (Yangpu Store) and received strong support from the enterprise. They were willing to open the walls of the enterprise's affiliated green space and share it with citizens. Now, the "Wei" Garden project has been completed, and a beautiful landscape is appearing before everyone's eyes.

Taking Flowers as the Vein, Enjoying the Urban Green Space

The "Wei" Garden takes flowers as its vein, fully exploring thematic elements and culture, with magnolias as the theme, integrating magnolia elements into the design. During the renovation process, the designers preserved the thriving camphor trees and southern magnolias in terms of greening, added three clumps of white magnolias as the main landscape trees, and matched them with Magnolia biondii and star magnolias.

The white and pink colors representing magnolia flowers form the base colors of the garden design. Combined with the planting of shaped Ligustrum japonicum, dwarf rhododendrons, hydrangeas, sages, and other flowering plants, the design employs contrasting colors, complementary colors, neighboring colors, and other effects to achieve contrast, permeation, and harmony. Simultaneously, the designers use small-scale colorful flower beds for local embellishment, presenting a plant landscape that is both overall coordinated and has local characteristics.

In order to match the theme, the design of the garden courtyard lamps features magnolia flowers, and reed lamps are also arranged at important nodes such as entrances and corners in combination with flower beds. At night, with twinkling lights, it's as if you are in a fairy tale world.

Mr. Zhou, a citizen, said, "In the past, I felt that this area was quite large, but there was no leisure space. Now it's much better, suitable for children to play and for us to rest our feet." Ms. Wang, a citizen, expressed that this area is adjacent to the Wujiaochang urban sub-center, "It feels more international! Especially on Huangxing Road, with a large flow of people and vehicles, everyone can walk and stop to enjoy the urban greenery."

Matching the Theme, Showcasing the Charm of Urban Culture

Huangxing Road is an urban arterial road, and the Huangxing Road-Guoquan Road bus stop is close to the entrance and exit of RT-Mart supermarket. At the beginning of the renovation, the designers planned to design the main entrance of the green space on the Huangxing Road side. This not only facilitates passengers but also makes full use of the existing space to expand the scope of opening. Now, at the entrance plaza, seat planters are set up for passengers to rest while waiting for the bus. Simultaneously, the green space logo is carefully arranged in combination with the steps, making it eye-catching.

The garden design also considers many details. For example, the entrance plaza paving adopts a bright gray-white color scheme, and the walkways adopt blue, making the entire space brighter; the resting benches are arranged in combination with the tree shade; double rows of Hokkaido yellow-twig cypress hedges are planted around the parking lot, physically separating the parking lot from the green space while also serving the function of purifying the air.

The designer stated that through multiple on-site surveys, visits, and understanding the needs of RT-Mart and surrounding residents, a brand-new space and a sustainable ecosystem environment were created, "hoping to bring a sense of happiness to the people and achieve harmony, integration, and symbiosis between humans and nature."

After the opening of the green space, it provides convenience to the surrounding residents, offers a space for public activities, and also gives the unit with ownership a "sense of gain," attracting customer flow and truly achieving a "win-win" situation.
