In the height of summer, the pace of urban construction in Yangpu is in "full swing."

At present, the project sites in our district are working at full capacity to rapidly advance the engineering progress. Simultaneously, the construction sites adopt methods such as "working at both ends and resting in the middle" to avoid construction during high temperature and heat periods, and do a good job in protecting workers from heat and cooling down.

Rental Housing Projects Actively Promoted to Invite New Citizens and New Youth to "Settle Down"

In recent years, Shanghai has increased its efforts in the construction and supply of affordable rental housing, mobilizing the entire city to build a multi-level supply system of "a bed, a room, and a house," making the construction and supply of rental housing run at an "accelerated pace" every year.

The affordable rental housing project at plot 015-04 in Changhai Community, Yangpu District (Block 336, Changhai Sub-district), undertaken by Shanghai Baoye, will soon see the capping of its main structure. The project borders Shiguang Road to the east, Minzhuang Road to the south, Guojing Road to the west, and plots 015-02 and 015-03 to the north. It is planned to construct rental housing and supporting facilities such as cultural activity rooms and owners' committee rooms, with a total construction area of about 19,000 square meters.

The project is invested and constructed by Shanghai Yangpu Real Estate Co., Ltd., a state-owned enterprise under Yangpu District. After completion, it will be able to provide 319 affordable rental housing units for the surrounding areas, offering more choices for groups in our district with rental housing needs such as new citizens and young people, effectively alleviating the rental pressure in the surrounding areas. It is reported that the project is going all out for the structural capping, and the secondary structural construction of the project has also started. Li Duo, the project's technical responsible person, said, "The project is the first project of collaboration between Shanghai Baoye and the district government's platform company, and it is the result of promoting the deepening of government-enterprise collaboration."

High-Rise Residential Construction Accelerated to Help Renew the Urban Interface

The commodity residential project at plot K7A-01 in Dinghai Community, Yangpu District, undertaken by Shanghai Baoye, recently completed the overall capping of the main structure. This signifies that the project construction will gradually transition to the rough decoration construction, specialized construction, and fine decoration construction stages, and it is expected to be completed by the end of the first half of 2026.

We learned that the project is located in the core area of the northern section of the East Bund in our district, with a site area of about 45,100 square meters and a total construction area of 227,600 square meters. It has 2 underground floors and constructs 16 residential buildings and supporting facilities. The completion of this project can solve people's livelihood problems, create a high-quality life, and better meet the residents' daily needs for clothing, food, housing, transportation, elderly care, education, cultural leisure, and other requirements.

Since its establishment in July 2023, the project department has carefully planned, actively organized forces, and overcome adverse factors such as continuous high temperature, typhoons, and rainy seasons. It took only 15 days to complete the structural zero level of the -10-meter, underground second-floor civil air defense basement, and only 90 days to complete the node objective of the first building from earthwork excavation to structural capping.

"In order to cope with this hot summer, the project department adopted a staggered construction system of working at both ends and resting in the middle, and regularly distributed heat-prevention and cooling-down supplies such as salt soda water and Huoxiang Zhengqi water to the workers," said Yu Hao, the project's technical responsible person. "During busy times, the number of on-site construction personnel can reach more than 1,000. With the completion of the structural capping, there are still more than 500 people on-site, mainly engaged in the plastering of the secondary structure and the construction of the external wall insulation layer."
