5th Anniversary of People's City Concept | "Beautiful Neighborhood" in Yangpu Unveiled with New Look August 14,2024
This year marks the 5th anniversary of the concept of people's city. As the place where it was first proposed, Yangpu is thriving with a flourishing digital economy and a dynamic, youthful spirit. Let's immerse ourselves in this city that is becoming increasingly "YOUNG" for the people...
Taking to the streets, you're greeted by a burst of greenery; pausing for a moment, you'll find scenery worth appreciating. Recently, Guanshan Road (from Guoquan East Road to Guoding East Road) in Wujiaochang Sub-district, Yangpu was revitalized as a "Beautiful Neighborhood", earning unanimous praise from local residents for its bold and vibrant design elements that have brought new vitality and interest to the area. Let's take a look.
Guanshan Road, approximately 600 meters long from Guoquan East Road to Guoding East Road, is primarily a mixed-use area for living, commerce and education. In this renovation, the Yangpu Bureau of Greening and Urban Appearance Management, under the principles of "safety, participation, relaxation and warmth", enhanced various dimensions, including vacant street spaces, pavement, urban furniture, facades and greening.
Near the west entrance of Huangxing Garden Community, you can see two iron art trellises placed side by side, surrounded by flower bed greenery that creates a space for residents to rest and socialize through the layout of the flower beds. The renovation design uses "pixel" elements in the paving to create a sense of dynamism, fostering a more amiable atmosphere.
Resident Mr. Liu recalled, "There used to be green spaces at the entrance of our community, but there was a lack of public activity spaces. Now, it's transformed; the walls and the entrance have been renovated, which is quite refreshing for us long-term residents."
In the "Beautiful Neighborhood" landscape design, the "square" serves as the design language, combined with bright colors and interesting elements, aiming to create a neighborhood that is "united and harmonious", "refined and beautiful", "vibrant and new", filled with warmth and emotion.
Arriving near the East Shanghai LOHAS Plaza, visitors are greeted by an expansive and well-lit public space. The renovation included the addition of rest areas, with "pixel" cubes cleverly arranged to create a luminous logo, benches and planting beds. Additionally, signs were added in front of the public toilets, and the green spaces were adorned and beautified to enhance the recognition of public amenities.
The renovation of the Oriental Blue Sea Plaza is a key element of the "Beautiful Neighborhood" initiative. Resident Ms. Zhang, who lives nearby, said, "The Oriental Blue Sea Plaza ahead looks more organized and brighter, and it's more beautiful than before."
During its renovation, Oriental Blue Ocean Plaza updated its flowerbed facades, diversified its greenery to break the monotony of boundary planting, and enhanced the space with a richer palette of planting forms and colors. This fresh look has not only opened up the visual landscape but also the hearts of passers-by, fostering a greater fondness for the "Beautiful Neighborhood" initiative.
Each plant pulsates with life, presenting a distinct beauty throughout the seasons. At the intersection of Guanshan Road and Guoshun East Road, the street's green spaces and key landscaping points have been enhanced with a thematic species—the vibrant crabapple, which lines Guanshan Road and delivers a striking visual statement. The addition of flowering and colorful-leaf shrubs extends the ornamental period of the vegetation, offering a delightful visual feast to all passers-by.
