  The city's facade is perpetually refreshed, and the urban environment is in a state of constant improvement. Amidst the hustle and bustle of the city filled with vehicles and throngs of people, an urban oasis quietly unfolds. We have learned from the Yangpu Bureau of Greening and Urban Appearance Management that a new roadside pocket park—Beiyun Garden has been built up. Let's take a look.

  Located on the north side of Zhongshan North Second Road, stretching from Miyun Road in the west to Zoumatang Pump Station in the east, Beiyun Garden is a green space covering an area of about 4,500 square meters. Transforming from an inaccessible, enclosed space to an open, inviting one, the garden has undergone a splendid metamorphosis, progressively establishing itself as a vital green link between Yangpu and Hongkou.

  Creating urban greenways to connect nature and life

  As you look into the distance, the view is expansive, encircled by verdant greenery and lush vegetation, with the red running track being particularly striking and offering a comfortable surface for walking. A line of long wooden benches is clean and tidy, providing a place for residents to sit and rest.

  Entering Beiyun Garden, you will catch sight of a greenway space that extends along Zhongshan North Second Road. The east side is connected to the greenway under the Inner Ring elevated road to create a seamless green network. This pocket park not only enhances the city's ecological environment, but also offers residents a tranquil retreat into nature.

  According to the designer, the plan was to preserve existing arbors, sculptures and ventilation shafts, linking the two green spaces divided by entrances and exits with a 1.5-meter-wide slow greenway. The three rest areas along the route offer a green space where they can escape the city's clamor and enjoy tranquility.

  Colorful foliage and blossoms create a varied landscape throughout the seasons

  The greening renovation of Beiyun Garden was thoughtfully planned. While preserving existing trees, an array of colorful trees such as cherry and red maple was added. Through the retention, pruning and reconstruction of the undergrowth, a variety of plant landscape spaces have been crafted, including colorful leaf forest belts, woodland flower borders and small gardens.

  Strolling through Beiyun Garden allows you to experience the rich transitions from flower borders to sparse forests and then to floral corridors, embracing the ever-changing scenery that the seasons bring.

  Facilitating connection and regional interaction

  Surrounding Beiyun Garden are primarily residential, office and university environments. This pocket park not only provides an excellent leisure spot for local residents, but also offers a space for workers and students to relax and interact, fostering community integration and communication.
