On August 10, the "Riverside Melodies" concert series, hosted by the Yangpu Culture and Tourism Administration, took place at the old building square in Area E of the Oriental Fisherman's Wharf in Yangpu Riverside. This event, as part of the 5th anniversary celebration of the people's city concept in Yangpu, catered to the aesthetic education needs of the public and empowered the urban life. With "art at the doorstep" as the theme, it invited the community to experience beauty.

Last summer, Yangpu presented a two-month-long "Riverside Melodies" concert series, creating countless splendid moments through the collision of traditional folk music and modern pop music. This year, the event returned with an enhanced format, combining lectures with performances to shape the distinctive Yangpu cultural brand.

At the event, professional musicians from the Shanghai Oriental Chinese Orchestra delivered exceptional musical performances, making it an unforgettable weekend for the audience.

A variety of traditional Chinese instruments such as dizi, guzheng, erhu, zhongruan and sheng were played, with live renditions of romantic tunes like Romeo and Juliet, The Moon Represents My Heart, Sweet and Do You Know. The performances not only heated up the atmosphere, but also enriched the festive atmosphere of the Qixi Festival. Classic pieces like Colorful Clouds Chasing the Moon, May We All Be Blessed with Longevity, and Blooming Flowers and Full Moon were also performed, with harmonious instrumental sounds and joyful singing, evoking endless emotions.

Notably, the event incorporated in-depth instrument introductions and music education, enriching the musical experience and offering the audience a dual feast of sound and knowledge.

Mr. Wang, a loyal fan of the "Riverside Melodies" concerts, first encountered the event while strolling on a weekend evening last year and has since eagerly anticipated the weekly "concerts at the doorstep". He said, "For those of us caught up in the hustle of daily life, such accessible concerts are incredibly meaningful. I hope to see more of these community-oriented events."

Ms. Liu was drawn to the music while shopping and enjoyed the ancient-style concert with her child. "The music played today is incredibly beautiful. Experiencing such melodious tunes by the riverside with the evening breeze is truly enjoyable, it's wonderful."

A special "Riverside Melodies" check-in point was set up, attracting numerous couples to capture romantic and special moments.

From August to November, every Saturday evening from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, "Riverside Melodies" will continuously delight residents and visitors at the Oriental Fisherman's Wharf in Yangpu Riverside. In celebration of the 5th anniversary of the people's city concept, a series of additional exhibitions, performances and experiential activities will be rolled out across the district, allowing residents to relish premium cultural experiences and appreciate fine arts right at their doorstep.
