Child-friendliness is a vivid practice of the People's City concept, an important indicator of high-quality development, and an inherent meaning of high-quality life. Recently, the Second Shanghai Forum on Promoting the Construction of a Child-Friendly City was held at the Shanghai World Expo Museum. The forum released the "2024 Annual Report on Promoting the Construction of a Child-Friendly City in Shanghai" and the "Shanghai Child-Friendly Policy Guidelines Version 1.0."

The "Exhibition of Achievements in the Construction of Child-Friendly Urban Districts in Shanghai" on the day of the forum activity concentrated on showcasing the innovative practices of Shanghai's 16 districts in carrying out the construction of child-friendly urban districts based on local conditions. In recent years, our district has organically integrated the concept of "child-friendliness" into the overall picture of economic and social development. With "children+" as the center, we have carried out brand projects for child-friendly urban district services covering a wide range of fields such as education, health, culture, sports, science, and space construction, promoting the high-quality development of children's affairs in Yangpu in the new era in a multi-dimensional, multi-level, and three-dimensional manner, striving to shape a model practice of People's City with the characteristics of our district.

The Xinjiangwancheng Street Jiulongcang Children's Home is located at No. 500 Guoxiao Road. The outdoor arc-shaped sand pit is filled with fine sand, allowing children to freely contact the earth; the slides are constructed in an arc shape, with each sharp point dulled and protrusions carefully wrapped with sponges... Entering the interior, the exquisite layout brings joy to the body and mind - the reading room, indoor play area, baking area, and other areas have children's books with rich themes, cute toys, memory-filled photo walls, and brightly colored child-friendly signs, creating a warm atmosphere for children.

With the support of the Women's and Children's Working Committee Office of the District, the Women's Federation of Xinjiangwancheng Sub-district, and the Experimental School of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, the Jiulongcang  community has also established a "Friendly Children's Council." The activity site is set up in the Children's Home, and the " Jiulongcang Metaverse Happy Star Domain Plan" interactive classroom is designed to exercise and cultivate children's social observation and thinking skills, allowing them to enter the community, participate in social practice, and "offer suggestions" for the construction of a child-friendly and beautiful community. From children's activities to parent-child education, the Jiulongcang Xiyuan residential area fully utilizes community autonomy and co-governance, integrates community resources, and makes the Children's Home a happy station for children's after-school time, helping them experience fun and gain growth through activities.

Our district fully integrates the concept of child-friendliness into regional development, using child-friendliness to paint the warm undertones of the People's City. Daqiao Park has now built a children's exploration park and carried out activities such as "Little Planners" walking along the Riverside and parent-child drum circles, which are widely favored by children and parents. Schools represented by Wujiaochang Kindergarten and Hangzhou Road No. 1 Primary School take the lead in promoting the "child-friendly" transformation of campus space by encouraging students to actively make suggestions and improving the construction of the campus system from the perspective of "one meter height." In addition, our district will also promote the construction of a number of child-friendly hospitals, aiming to foster a child-centered service concept, enhance children's health service capabilities, and create a high-quality and friendly medical environment for children.

In the future, our district will continue to focus on the needs of children, listen to the voices of children, respect the ideas of children, highlight the demonstration effect of the Yangpu Riverside Child-Friendly Public Space Demonstration Zone, and let the concept of child-friendliness empower the future planning and construction of our district.
