On May 24, the "Literary Xinjiangwan, Civic Engagement in Action" 2nd Civilized Life Festival & 2025 Cultural Seasons - Reading Salon kicked off at the Xinjiangwancheng Community Cultural Center.

The event marked the kick-off of the Xinjiangwancheng 7th Idiom & Poetry Festival. The festival, centered on the red theme, innovatively combined online and offline elements while featuring special lectures to engage community residents. New service hubs were inaugurated, including the Xinshang Party-Mass Service Station, the Zhenghe Fire Rescue Service Station, and the Wharf Seasons Park Service Station of Yangpu Library Xinjiangwancheng Branch. Now boasting 11 primary-level service stations, the sub-district's library network has expanded, further cementing "Literary Xinjiangwan" as a cultural cornerstone.

Certificates of honor were bestowed upon the "Neighborly Companions" at the event. These companions, vital to the "Youth Companion for Enlightened Development" initiative, have rallied over 20 experts to offer a spectrum of services fostering youth development. On-site, the "Youth Companion Program" was inaugurated. Supported by the Youth Growth Center, it will pool the expertise of the "Neighborly Companion" resources to nurture healthy youth growth and radiate the city's civil warmth.

Rich in historical legacy and contemporary civility, Yangpu unveiled the "Conversing with the City, Growing with Companions" walking initiative at the event. It warmly invited local families on a journey to uncover the city's cultural roots and immerse themselves in its cultural depth.

In the "Fragrance of Ink Carries Love, Warmth Touches Yunnan" charity donation, there was a live connection with Wang Huajun, Principal of Taoyuan Central School in Yongsheng County, Yunnan Province. Together, they witnessed the moment when the first batch of donated books reached the mountainous region. Shanghai Fuje Technology, Topspring International Holdings Limited, and other socially responsible companies, alongside donor representatives like the Cui Xinyuan family, were honored with donation certificates.

Outside the venue, the cultural fair of the 2nd Yangpu Civilized Life Festival at Xinjiangwancheng Sub-district was in full swing. The event, with the theme "Elegance of Poetry, Ingenuity of Craftsmanship, Civilized Collaboration", was teeming with people, drawing the active involvement of numerous community residents. The intangible cultural heritage (ICH) experience zone showcased nine traditional crafts, such as Jiangwan dough figurines, fingertip kite making, and woodblock printing, enabling citizens to immerse themselves in the charm of ICH. In the community co-creation zone, residents were encouraged to breathe new life into old objects, uncover hidden wisdom within used books, and craft poetic masterpieces inspired by the natural world. In the civilized tour zone, engaging games such as "Courtesy to All", "Pamper with Care", and "Toss & Learn" made learning about civility both fun and interactive. The reading & appreciation zone, on the other hand, serves as a cozy gathering spot for book enthusiasts to connect and share their passion.

In recent years, Xinjiangwancheng Sub-district has steadfastly embraced a dual-driven strategy of civilization and culture, fully embodying the people's city concept. Through the development of diverse brand activities and top-notch cultural services, the sub-district has significantly bolstered its community cultural influence.

Hu Yuanhui, Deputy Secretary of the Party Work Committee of Xinjiangwancheng Sub-district and Director of the Xinjiangwancheng Sub-district Office, noted that this year the sub-district has combined the "Civilized Life Festival" with the "Xinjiangwancheng Cultural Seasons" for the first time. Through immersive cultural experiences, community co-creation spaces, and fun activities, the sub-district aims to blend traditional culture with modern practices. "We're committed to embedding the essence of civilization into daily life and diffusing the charm of culture into every home, through both the preservation of literary traditions via the Idiom & Poetry Festival and the practice of the cultural fair."
