Explore Yangpu's Hotspots: China Coordinates City Orienteering Challenge 2025 Kicks Off May 26,2025
On May 24, the China Coordinates City Orienteering Challenge 2025 kicked off at Shanghai Stadium, bringing together urban explorers and adventure enthusiasts in a thrilling event that saw tens of thousands join in the fun.
With one main venue at Shanghai Stadium and four sub-venues, this event's distinctive checkpoints in Yangpu, steeped in urban character and history, like Huangpu Wharf Historical Site, B-link, Shipyard Park, Bailian ZX Fun Center, Jiangwanli MEET678, and Xinjiangwancheng Cultural and Sports Park, attracted many participants to visit and check in.
This year's event launched a nationwide slogan: "Check in at cool spots, join China Coordinates." The Shanghai edition was built into a giant urban playground, themed "Game Shanghai", where orienteering fans could visit fashion commercial landmarks, viral dining spots, trendy sports sites, niche cultural venues, revolutionary education sites, Shanghai must-visits, and community amenities. It is a fun way to experience the city through urban orienteering.
Once an obscure inland isle on the Huangpu River, Fuxing Island has now emerged as Shanghai's premier urban gem. With the launch of the Shanghai Quantum City Spatiotemporal Innovation Base in late 2024, the island began its transformation into a "Digital Wonderland", a "Design Hub", and a "People's Paradise". This year, from September to December, Fuxing Island will host the main exhibition of the 6th Shanghai Urban Space Art Season, bridging art and urban life in a seamless and dynamic way.
In recent years, Yangpu has been actively leveraging IPs to reshape consumer experiences and foster a symbiotic relationship between the local economy and ACGN culture. As a hub for emerging online economy enterprises in Shanghai, Yangpu offers orienteering enthusiasts not only the chance to visit leading companies like Douyin and Meituan at Huangpu Wharf Historical Site and B-link, but also the opportunity to immerse themselves in the vibrant ACGN atmosphere at Bailian ZX Fun Center.
The Yangpu route concludes at Xinjiangwancheng Cultural and Sports Park, a hub that integrates culture, sports, recreational, and aquatic zones. This park is a new window into Yangpu's ecological and cultural charm. Its water sports center is a standout feature, offering residents the thrill of paddleboarding and kayaking in an urban setting. The sports zone is home to Asia's largest extreme skateboarding park and a range of facilities like tennis courts, a natatorium, and a public sports center, all of which have become new destinations for physical exercise and relaxation.
This year's medals take a unique approach, inspired by the fusion of culture, tourism, commerce, sports, and exhibitions. Each of the five medals has a distinct design: an airplane for tourism, a planetarium for technology, a metro train for urban orienteering (sports), the Shanghai Oriental Art Center for art and culture, and a waffle with an ice cream cone for commerce. Each design corresponds to one of the five key elements.
