First Fortune 500 Company in Yangpu Takes Deep Root in Shanghai to Create Collaborative Industry Ecosystem April 24,2025
At the 2025 Yangpu Work Conference on High-Quality Business Development and High-Standard Opening Up in March 203, Yangpu's ten key foreign-related projects were unveiled. Siemens' Smart Cool Cube AI Box Project stood out as a highlight, signaling a new phase in the partnership between Siemens and Yangpu.
Siemens, the first Fortune 500 company to build a regional headquarters in Yangpu, has expanded its presence with the East China regional headquarters, financial leasing, commercial factoring, and digital industry units. For years, the district and Siemens have partnered to pursue innovation-driven development, contributing significantly to regional economic and social development.
In 2017, Siemens partnered with Yangpu to create the Siemens Process Industry Digital Experience Center. This center combines project development, product demonstration, and talent training to drive and support the digital transformation of local industries.
At the "2023 German Enterprise Promotion in Yangpu & Sino-German Matchmaking Roundtable", Siemens hosted a delegation from AHK, comprising over 30 German companies. The delegation toured Yangpu Riverside and GKIC, and visited companies such as Siemens and Luoman. Through the visit, Martin Klose, Chief Representative of the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce Guangzhou, was positive about the future of Sino-German cooperation. "Our district's renowned universities have already forged partnerships with German academic bodies across various fields. Looking ahead, we aim to extend these collaborations beyond academia to further promote Sino-German commercial exchanges and cooperation."
During the 6th China International Import Expo last year, Siemens also witnessed the inauguration of the Yangpu German Innovation Center. The center aims to develop more sustainable innovation elements and scenarios. Through a variety of events such as industry summits, thematic forums, and industrial training, the center will further attract foreign investment and boost the intelligent manufacturing sector, thus reinvigorating Yangpu's export-oriented economy. At the roundtable on the inauguration day, key German-speaking companies in Yangpu, such as Siemens, Continental, and Henkel, exchanged views on their business development and the major challenges they faced. Relevant departments addressed the companies' concerns.
According to Ren Jie, Vice President of Siemens Ltd., China and General Manager of the Eastern Region, During these events, the company engaged in extensive discussions with local authorities on key issues like empowering SMEs, fostering emerging industries, and enhancing the business environment. Ren emphasized that the government has been highly responsive to the opinions and suggestions put forward by enterprises. In routine operations, feedback on policy suggestions is provided swiftly, often within a short timeframe. For special policy consultations, government departments go a step further by promptly organizing multiple industry-focused roundtable discussions. "These sessions are not merely about listening to opinions, but also about offering guidance on how to effectively utilize the policies," said Ren. Moreover, industry associations play a key role by organizing training programs and exchange platforms, with a clear focus on facilitating policy implementation and enhancing the sense of gain for enterprises.
Yangpu boasts rich resources in science and technology, education, and talents, coupled with a deep-rooted tradition as an industrial base. Aligned with Yangpu's plan for the development of the "1+2+3+4" innovative modern industrial system and its goal of developing the "Digital Yangpu" brand, Siemens will utilize its Xcelerator digital business platform to nurture a new generation of digital transformation service providers for SMEs in Yangpu. This initiative will drive the intelligent, green, and integrated development of industry chains.
Over the past two decades, Siemens and Yangpu have partnered closely, overcoming challenges, and making steady progress together. The district's unwavering dedication to using technological innovation as a driving force for digital transformation in its industries is in perfect harmony with Siemens' core values. Ren stressed that Siemens will remain firmly committed to its presence in Shanghai and Yangpu. It will collaborate with leading enterprises to actively engage in ecosystem development, fostering an industrial landscape where large, medium, and small businesses can share resources, innovate together, and achieve mutual success. Together, they will strive to grow stronger and expand their impact.
