Spring Festival Countdown: Festive Atmosphere Abounds in Yangpu January 26,2025
As the Lunar Snake Year Spring Festival draws near, many residents in Yangpu District have noticed a variety of "Spring Festival" elements adorning the streets. According to the Yangpu Bureau of Greening and Urban Appearance Management, during this year's New Year's Day and Spring Festival, a total of 558,000 flowers were replaced in the district, including flower beds and borders, themed landscapes, combined containers, and other decorative arrangements. The fruit-laden Ilex verticillata and vibrant Viola cornuta create a joyful and harmonious festive atmosphere. Their bright and festive colors add unique warmth to the cold winter days. Let's take a look.
Adorning the central median flower boxes on Changyang Road, the "festive" decor showcases Chinese knots inscribed with the character "Fu" (fortune) and vibrant "red chili peppers," evoking a jubilant and harmonious Spring Festival ambiance. The floral arrangement predominantly features Ilex verticillata, enhanced by pink Rhododendron hybridum, camellias, and multicolored Viola cornuta. Ilex verticillata boasts a prolonged blooming period, with branches laden with bright red berries that resemble smooth, glossy agates. These berries beautifully contrast with the pink Rhododendron hybridum, infusing the bleak winter landscape with a sense of warmth and vitality.
Citizen Zhang Qiang, who happened to be passing by, said that the city now looks very neat and invigorating. The addition of these red elements has really enlivened the festive atmosphere. He intended to take a few photos to show his children at home, which he thought is quite meaningful.
In keeping with the Spring Festival "festive" theme, the central median flower boxes on Siping Road are adorned with vine balls. These boxes are planted with Ilex verticillata, Rhododendron hybridum, Viola cornuta, and Ligustrum lucidum. The "red vine balls" stand out against the green leaves, capturing attention. The dark median barriers are decorated with Chinese knots and red chili pepper ornaments, fully embodying the festive atmosphere of the Spring Festival along the route.
Currently, a number of parks in Yangpu have dismantled their walls to seamlessly integrate with the city. With the Spring Festival on the horizon, Yangpu Greening Company, in view of the 24-hour and boundary-free access to these parks, has embellished the parks with lanterns, red lanterns, Chinese knots, and spring festival displays, as well as fresh flowers. This enables visitors to appreciate the scenery during the day and admire the lanterns at night.
In various parks, an array of lanterns and Chinese knots has been strung up at entrances and along main roads. At key locations such as the Yingkou Road entrance, Shuangyang North Road, and Guoshun East Road entrance squares of Huangxin Park, the Shuangyang Road and Longchang Road entrance squares of Yangpu Park, the Jiangpu Road entrance square and Jinxi Square of Jiangpu Park, as well as the open lawn area of New Jiangwan City Park, a total of 9 meticulously crafted Spring Festival displays have been set up. These decorations across the sites utilized approximately 77,000 flowers.
When evening descends and the park's evening lights are illuminated, the resplendent lights imbue the air with the festive ambiance of the New Year. The interplay between the light and the garden landscapes accentuates each other, creating a picturesque scene. The plants, bathed in the glow of multicolored lights, gleam brilliantly and appear resplendent.
With the Spring Festival around the corner, come and stroll along the streets of Yangpu, and visit the parks to immerse yourself in the rich "festive atmosphere".
