"Music possesses an enchanting power that can bridge the gaps of time and space, evoking memories of those cherished years..." On January 3, in the "Origin of Light and Shadow Hall" of Shanghai's first red-themed cinema - Siping Cinema, a spectacular "Tongji Rim New Year's Concert" marked the beginning of the New Year.

The event was co-hosted by the Party Work Committee and Office of Siping Road Sub-district, and Shanghai Yangpu Investment Holdings (Group) Co., Ltd., and was live streamed via the Tongji Rim People's Live Room, enabling every music enthusiast in Yangpu to celebrate the arrival of the New Year together.

The concert commenced with the stirring opening piece Spring Festival Overture. As the conductor's baton descended, the "protagonist" of the concert, the Shanghai Jinqiu Wind Ensemble, played a lively tune. Founded in 2006, the ensemble boasts an average member age of over 60. Starting from a modest bicycle shed with their love for music more than a decade ago, they have now blossomed into an exceptional group of over 50 members.

Then, the melody of classic pieces such as Ode to the Red Flag, Magnificent Yan'an, and Blooming Flowers and Full Moon filled the air, with the passionate and professional performances delighting the audience. "I could feel the weight of history and the shifts of the times through the melodies," said a citizen who was touched.

Innovation was a key highlight of this New Year's concert. Beyond the traditional pieces, the Jinqiu Wind Ensemble presented innovative programs. Charming Melody, Splendid China skillfully blends elements of Peking Opera and renowned local operas from the Yangtze River Delta, merging Western music with traditional Chinese instruments to produce music that is both engaging and steeped in cultural depth, according to conductor Chen Huikang. "Our goal is to offer the audience an entirely new auditory experience!"

In the audience, Huang Lingting, Secretary of the Party Branch of Zhongtian Innovation Block, Siping Road Sub-district, listened attentively. As the melody of My Motherland and I resonated across the sky, she waved the national flag in her hand and sang along. She said, "Artistic activities serve as catalysts for community vitality and represent a significant aspect of cultural development in the Tongji Rim area.
