Yanji Xincun Sub-district's Shuifeng Road Public Welfare Neighborhood Organizes "Harmonious Neighborhood of Shuifeng" Citywalk December 05,2024

Imagine the future of a public welfare neighborhood: Yanji Xincun Sub-district's Shuifeng Road, a street teeming with the essence of community life, has been a hub for "15-minute community life circle" services such as health clinics and tailoring. Through extensive collaboration between the sub-district, educational institutions, and community members, and by fostering a spirit of joint contribution, co-governance, and shared benefits, the area has been revitalized into a public welfare neighborhood.

On December 2, the "Harmonious Neighborhood of Shuifeng" Citywalk kicked off. With the integration and networking of diverse public resources across the neighborhood, the "Shuifeng Road Public Welfare Neighborhood 2.0" initiative was officially rolled out. The event introduced the "Shuifeng Road Public Welfare Neighborhood Map", featuring interactive "check-in points" from 24 entities, including the "Ji'ai Pavilion, Charity Hut, and Neighborhood Center, which reflect a blend of historical and modern elements, as well as cultural and technological intersections, within a high-quality community life circle.

Spanning approximately 1.2 kilometers between Jingyu East Road and Zhoujiazui Road, Shuifeng Road has transformed from a typical old street into a vibrant community landmark, exemplifying the achievements of Yanji Xincun Sub-district's "15-minute community life circle" initiative. During the event, the "Ji'ai Pavilion" was abuzz with residents engaging in a variety of volunteer services such as health consultations, convenience services, charity repairs, community markets, and charity sales, all contributing to a thriving and harmonious community atmosphere that has become a regular feature of Shuifeng Road.

Previously, the sub-district has made significant efforts to integrate resources from schools, social organizations, and businesses within its area to reinvigorate the public service functions of the old street and enhance the living standards of residents. Moreover, it has encouraged community participation in neighborhood development, fostered indigenous strength, and stimulated self-governance vitality, leading to the successful establishment of the Shuifeng Road Public Welfare Neighborhood project. This initiative was honored with the Communication Demonstration Award in the 2023 selection of "15-Minute Community Life Circle" exemplary cases. Moving forward, the "Public Welfare Neighborhood 2.0" will concentrate on facility upgrades, atmosphere building, and environmental improvements, ensuring that the spirit of philanthropy flourishes throughout the neighborhood and serves as a conduit for love and warmth.

Love continues...To show care for the newly employed group, the event distributed wind-resistant gloves to diligent delivery personnel. Additionally, the "Skilled Mothers" knitting team from Yanji Ersancun Community announced the commencement of the "'Heart-warming Knits for Ninglang' Initiative" at the event. This initiative is a collaborative effort between the Yanji Community Public Welfare Foundation, the Yangji Comprehensive Social work station, Shanghai Zegu Nursing Home, and the "Skilled Mothers" knitting team. The goal is to gather wool donations from the community, which will be meticulously crafted into "charity gloves" by the knitting team and distributed to schoolchildren in Ninglang County, Lijiang City, Yunnan Province, to assist them in staying warm during the chilly winter months.

The citywalk across the public welfare neighborhood that day pushed the atmosphere to its peak. Concurrently, the "Citywalk - Yanji Red Journey" kicked off. Along Shuifeng Road, a dozen social organization public welfare projects and convenient service projects were displayed, including the "Skilled Mothers" knitting team's skill show, the "Blue Vest Initiative" Digital Support for the Elderly, the "We Are Great" Shanghai Dialect Promotion Campaign, the Neighboring Safety Guardian Training Program, the Coffee Recycling Experience for Children, the "Shared Cat Cafe" Community Stray Cat Management Plan, ICH Sugar Painting, Cloth & Clay Refrigerator Magnet DIY Workshop, Charity Sales, and OCN's convenient services. These projects invited residents to engage and experience, allowing everyone to feel the warmth of the city.

At the scenic square, flash mob performances by community arts groups were captivating. Hand drumming, health exercises, dance shows, electric flute solos, and choral singing...these activities vividly displayed the spirit of the community's residents.

Since 2015, Yanji Xincun Sub-district Street has been allocating special funds for Party organizations in residential areas to serve the public for a decade. The sub-district has fully leveraged Party building resources to demonstrate the success of Party building projects and has selected notable projects in recent years, such as the "Yanqi Rose Garden", "Kongqi Complex Garden", and the Shulan Winter Law Camp. These initiatives aim to increase awareness among Party members and residents about the services provided by Party organizations, to experience grassroots governance in person, to appreciate the unique charm of community culture, and to further unite the community, stimulate vitality, and enhance governance.
