Setting Sail for the Future, Reaping a Bountiful Harvest

The 11-day summer camp offered a diverse and engaging schedule. Beyond a week of practical internships, the participants were treated to a suite of experiential events, including seminars on innovation, entrepreneurship and career development. They had the opportunity to explore leading companies such as COMAC and Meituan, experiencing the technological and industrial development of the Chinese mainland. Cultural and historical sites, including the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall, Yangpu Riverside and the Yangpu Binjiang People's City Construction Planning Exhibition Hall, provided a window into Shanghai's urban changes and vision. Additionally, the participants delved into the study of intangible cultural heritage at the Royal Workshop of Chinese Brush and Ink.

At the closing ceremony, the students from eight teams shared their internship outcomes and presented their career plans based on their majors. Wong To Yuen, who interned at FervCloud, along with his teammates, conducted an in-depth survey and analysis of the intelligent vehicle HUD industry. He said, "This internship has offered me a deep understanding of the disparity between theory and the tools and methods used in the workplace. Through hands-on practice, I've not only solidified my expertise, but also learned how to apply what I've learned to solve practical problems, which will be very helpful for my future career development."

The Center of Youth Talent Enlightened is dedicated to offering a range of empowering and enlightening training programs for young people. Among the interns was Tang Chui Yan, who found the team spirit at the center particularly captivating. "My colleagues are incredibly warm and welcoming, adopting a one-on-one mentorship approach that facilitated my swift integration into the group. They not only guided me in my work but also cared for me in life, making me feel the warmth of home." She said that this positive environment has reinforced her commitment to a career in public service.

Building Dreams in Yangpu, Creating Brilliance Together

On November 2, 2019, during a visit to Yangpu Riverside, General Secretary Xi Jinping proposed the important concept that "The city built by the people should serve the people" for the first time. Yangpu has consistently embraced this concept in its engagement with talents from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, creating a favorable environment that values and cherishes talents with sincerity.

At the closing ceremony, Fan Chih-ling, Vice President of the Shanghai Taiwan Investors Association, Chairman of the Work Committee of the Yangpu Taiwan Investors Association and Chairman of Shanghai Senling Business Services Co., Ltd., as a representative of veteran Taiwan entrepreneurs, shared his entrepreneurial journey and insights with the students. "Yangpu is a land of opportunities, a witness to the efforts and growth of countless entrepreneurs," he said. "I hope the youth from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan will seize these opportunities, align their personal aspirations with the nation's future, and together author a splendid narrative for the younger generation."

Through field surveys and business decision-making exercises, the students have not only honed their practical skills, but also learned how to collaborate effectively within a team to enhance work efficiency and quality, and how to learn from each other for mutual progress. Wang Feifei, Head of the University Division of Want Hotpot, as a mentor for the interns, shared her reflections. "In just a few days, I've seen the diligence and talent of the students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan," she said. "We've established comprehensive plans to guide the students in understanding the operation mode of our stores and the latest business models."

The completion of internships is not a conclusion but a fresh starting point. Looking ahead, Yangpu will further improve and expand platforms and channels for innovation and entrepreneurship, rolling out more policies that cater to public needs and support the work, study and life of young entrepreneurs from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan in Yangpu. We aim to attract more youth from these regions to choose Shanghai and prefer Yangpu, to pursue mutual success with this hotbed of innovation and entrepreneurship.
