Bilingual Musical Picture Book Drama: Joyful Party for Kids June 05,2024
Recently, the Children's Section of Yangpu Library organized the "Delights of Kids" - Bilingual Musical Picture Book Drama, bringing together people of all ages amid a lively atmosphere. With two sessions scheduled for the morning and afternoon, the children were immersed in a delightful reading experience, brimming with childlike fun.
In the morning, the English musical picture book drama - Animal Party in Running Town kicked off. "Cow, with a pitter-patter... Boy, with a pitter-patter... BOOM! Cowboy! A young calf and a boy, running and running, bump into each other—out pops a handsome cowboy!" To the beat of joyful melodies, the scenes of collision in Running Town came alive, vividly presenting the composition of English words in a three-dimensional way. The children ran and leaped, fully engaging in an immersive and interactive English reading experience through their movements and senses.
In the afternoon the shadow play Let Me Help You came as scheduled. It is a story about "helping and gratitude", where each animal character is in a "predicament". The teacher ingeniously used a projector and screen to bring the fairy tale world from the picture book vividly to life before the children's eyes. With its unique creativity and shadow effects, the play presented the children with a feast for eyes and ears, making them feel as if they were in the fairy tale world of little animals, conveying the values of being ready to help and fostering a sense of unity and amity.
During the craft making session, the adorable little ones crafted "shadow props" in person, and then used them to create their own "mini theaters".
For this year's Children's Day, the two special activities drew a large number of children. "Such reading activities are incredibly engaging, with meticulously designed settings, a wealth of content and an especially vibrant atmosphere. It's clear that a lot of thought was put into it." Many parents welcomed and recognized these activities, saying, "The activities are a delightful blend of learning and fun, which has left the children overjoyed. Although they previously showed little interest in picture books, they are now intrigued by the stories they contain."
In recent years, Yangpu Library has been committed to exploring and innovating in the content and forms of children's reading, to better fulfill the social educational role of public libraries. Looking ahead, the library will continue to explore a new path and create a sound ecosystem for children's reading services.
