On May 24, the 2024 Yangpu Science and Technology Festival, themed "Better Life with Technology", kicked off at Haishang Area of SUS National Science & Technology Park. Present were Chen Xin, Member of the Party Leadership Group of the Shanghai Association for Science and Technology (SAST) and Vice Chairperson of SAST; Xie Wenlan, a deputy director-level official of the Science & Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality; and Li Qinan, Deputy Head of Yangpu District.

During the festival, Yangpu will organize a variety of informative science popularization activities, creating a strong atmosphere of "talking about science, loving science, learning science and using science."

In the popular science exhibition area of the main venue, 37 entities in Yangpu, including government offices, companies and institutions, showcased Yangpu's creative vitality and innovative achievements from the perspectives of sports industry, smart life, scientific probe, science popularization for the public, popular science world and online science popularization.

Scenarios of smart digitalization of football, smart sports venues, spinning bikes, digital sports performance centers, human data collection, AI fitness machines, the "Rejoice Sport" APP AI sports platform, emerging sports ecosystem, virtual sports experience...SUS National Science & Technology Park will lead its leading sports companies to participate in the festival. ULS Robotics will bring the exoskeleton robots featured in The Wandering Earth II for visitors to experience. Tongji University, Shanghai University of Sport, Shanghai Ocean University, Shanghai University of Electric Power, the Yangpu Commission of Commerce, and the technology company YLSX carried out science popularization activities for the public, such as air detection, sports health, micro aquarium, narrow-footed racewalking humanoid robot Little Koi, rice processing and taste quality detection, and intangible cultural heritage cultural creation.

At the kickoff ceremony, awards were presented, including the 2023 National Science and Technology Activity Week Advanced Collective Award, the 2023 Shanghai International Sci-Tech Art Exhibition Outstanding Organization Award, the first prize of the 11th Shanghai Popular Science Docent Competition, and the second and third prizes of the 2024 Shanghai Science Experiment Exhibition. The Huangxing Park Digital Science Museum was inaugurated, and the "Community Academy" Popular Science Campaign was launched.

Over the past year, Yangpu has forged ahead with unwavering commitment to innovation and steadfast dedication to public service in the field of science popularization. The "Community Academy" project has reached a successful culmination, delivering 224 science popularization events that have brought the concept of the "Community Academy" to life, lighting up the community with knowledge and activity. Yangpu has achieved new breakthroughs in science popularization contests, won the first prize in the National Popular Science Docent Competition, and amassed a total of 10 national and municipal awards. Yangpu's efforts to bring science to the benefit of the public have charted a fresh course: Academicians Hall Shanghai was selected as one of "2023 National Scientist Spirit Education Bases"; Yangpu "Sports Health" Science Popularization Characteristic Capacity Building Project, proposed by Shanghai University of Sport, was launched as a special "One District, One Specialty" initiative under the science popularization category of Shanghai's "Technological Innovation Action Plan".

The showcase platform of the Yangpu Science and Technology Festival Online was launched that day. The festival harnessed the power of 3D web technology and VR to digitize the visual effects of physical objects into 3D data displayed on mobile devices. It brings to life a dynamic cloud exhibition and interactive experience, expanding the boundaries of science popularization and infusing it with fresh energy.
