Career for Future, Dream of Youth: 2024 Internship and Job Fair for Mainland, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Returned Overseas College Students Held May 10,2024
With the concern and support of the Taiwan Affairs Office of Shanghai Municipal People's Government (SHTAO), the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, and the Shanghai Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, the Yangpu District People's Government and the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (USST) jointly delivered the 2024 Internship and Job Fair for Mainland, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Returned Overseas College Students on the afternoon of May 8. Yang Lihua, Deputy Director of SHTAO; Sun Yuedong, Deputy Party Secretary of USST; and Dong Xinwang, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Yangpu District Committee, visited the fair.
The job fair featured online reservation and offline interview. Job-seeking college students could preview participating companies, jobs offered and salaries through a mini program, and added desired companies or jobs to their "intention lists" to improve the efficiency of job seeking. More than 130 employers from across the city, including state-owned enterprises, private companies, Taiwan companies and foreign companies, offered more than 400 posts in fields such as finance, Internet, trade & retail, and education & training for choice by Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and returned overseas Chinese college students, planning to recruit 3,000 people. The fair attracted more than 2,600 students.
The Shanghai Taiwan Investors Association made its debut with its committees of health, sports & leisure, finance, food and cultural creation. More than 20 Taiwan companies were involved, including Kid Castle, MAXIM Group, Yon Ho, Senling Business, GM Financial Service, COWealth, Living World, Timeless Boutique House, Star Foods, Acer, AOC, Chlitina, Weichuan Foods, Fusheng and Cathay Lujiazui Life Insurance. The Taiwan youth startup - Center of Youth Talent Enlightened introduced the project of "Shanghai-Sanming-Taiwan Youth Rural Startup Practice Base" and recruited rural managers, making its booth a popular one and a unique view at the fair.
Service zones, such as "Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao and Overseas Chinese", "Career Guidance" and "Startup Mentor", provided Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas Chinese applicants with one-stop consulting services that cover internship, employment, entrepreneurship and life in Shanghai, making them feel Yangpu's determination and sincerity to attract, cultivate, use and retain talents. Through providing follow-up guidance and targeted services, and integrating recruitment, job seeking training and vocational guidance, the fair has created an "internship + recruitment" model for full-process entrepreneurship empowerment from guidance on employment concepts of college students, to the development of sociability, job matching, and employment and entrepreneurship services for college students, thus further enhancing service accuracy and job matching efficiency. Since 2023, Yangpu has advanced chained services in an orderly manner and achieved significant results, and it will further extend such services in breadth and depth this year.
Delivering special job fairs is a major move of Yangpu to promote the implementation of various policies benefiting Taiwan and to well serve young people from the mainland, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, as well as returned young overseas Chinese. Since Yangpu took the lead in Shanghai to deliver a special job fair for college students from the mainland and Taiwan in 2015, a total of 1,451 companies have participated in such fairs with more than 20,000 jobs and 1,000 internship positions, more than 19,000 job seekers have applied, and nearly 5,000 applicants have reached initial employment or internship agreements with employers.
