The Landscape Management Department and the enhanced inner-ring elevated road, from Songhua River Road to Yangshupu Road, synergistically present a thematic landscape lighting tribute to workers.

Lighting Times

From April 30, 2024, to May 5, 2024, lights will be displayed daily from 6:00 PM to 10:30 PM, with shows at every half-hour and on the hour. Themed "Labor Creates Happiness, Diligence Achieves Greatness," the display uses lights and images to portray the dignity and spirit of workers, paying the highest respects and stirring societal respect and care for them. The solid pillar structure forms the numerals "5" and "1", symbolizing the solemn value created by labor. In the light display, a golden 3D "May Day" sign and Labor Day medals shine brilliantly, their weight and brilliance inspiring admiration. A vibrant tapestry slowly unfurls, showcasing the endless vitality and charm of workers from various professions, including farmers, teachers, and military personnel, all silently contributing to the nation. Text and silhouettes weave a prosperous city scene, narrating the splendid story of China's development, a testament to the hard work and creativity of its workers. Realistic images capture the essence of Yangpu's workers, embodying the spirit of rejuvenation and their vital contribution to the city's development.

During the May Day period, coinciding with the "May 5 Shopping Festival," Yangpu District's activities commence. The Wujiaochang lighting embraces the theme "May 5 Shopping Festival - Experience Digital Yangpu," creating a festive consumer atmosphere that showcases immersive, digital, youthful shopping experiences, truly rallying popularity, heating up consumption, and enriching the festive atmosphere.

Kind Reminder: From Tuesday, April 30, 2024, to Sunday, May 5, 2024, city-wide landscape lighting will operate in holiday mode. Core areas such as The Bund, North Bund, and Lujiazui, along with the Suzhou River banks, city-level business districts, "Shen-type elevated" routes, and significant structures like the Nanpu Bridge, will utilize colorful and dynamic lighting. The Bund embankments will activate waterfall lighting. There will be no Huangpu River themed light shows in core areas like The Bund, North Bund, and Lujiazui. (Click here for details)

Floral Refresh

In the Wujiaochang area, over 280,000 pots of flowers including orange and pink Impatiens hawkeri, Endless Summer hydrangeas, geraniums, and celosia, make a vibrant debut.

At Wujiaochang roundabout and the central medians of Huangxing Road and Songhu Road, orange and pink Impatiens hawkeri are interplanted with some white Impatiens hawkeri and cool purple Superb Fairy-wren, with 10 flower columns supporting 14,000 pots of climbing Impatiens hawkeri. From any angle—close-up, at a distance, from above or below—the Impatiens hawkeri bloom in their most vivid colors and full glory, bringing captivating hues to the roundabout and medians.

"When fragrant reds and tender greens are in bloom, neither cold butterflies nor hungry bees take notice. The best place to view this scene is under the early morning sun on the verdant branches of Wutong." A mountainous display formed by yellow celosia and red Impatiens hawkeri, outlined by white Impatiens hawkeri, creates a sense of continuous mountain ranges, bursting into bloom and surrounding viewers with enchanting shades of orange and pink, depicting the splendid beauty of spring.

Around HOPSON ONE

107 sets of flower boxes are arranged, featuring hydrangeas as the main theme. Romantic hydrangeas are pale blue before blooming and turn blue when in full bloom. Surrounded by Malus spectabilis with green leaves and pink flowers, the blooming hydrangeas create a striking color contrast, forming a vivid juxtaposition. The two vie for attention, transforming the springtime flower boxes into a miniature "Hydrangea Paradise," gracefully awaiting those who pause in their enchanting midst.

Central Median on Siping Road

238 sets of flower boxes retain rhododendron and camellia leaves, incorporating rose-red and pink trailing petunias, ivy, and blue hydrangeas as supplementary floral arrangements.

Non-Motorized Isolation Strip on Siping Road

The flower boxes are planted with 9,632 pots of geraniums, where clusters of small flowers form bright "explosion balls" of red. Up close, the vivid colors and overlapping blooms hide the leaves in a splendid display, while from a distance, the green leaves intersperse like red lanterns, enhancing the streetscape.
