With Teachers' Day around the corner, these good teachers in Yangpu have recently been honored!

 

In the sixth edition of Yangpu's campaign to select and promote "Touching Campus" figures, 10 teachers were honored as "Touching Campus" figures and 15 nominated.

 

Besides, 15 teachers were named "Shanghai's Top-grade Teachers 2023". On the occasion of the 39th Teachers' Day, Yangpu's educators will keep the mission of fostering virtues through education firm on their shoulders, stay true to the original purpose of imparting knowledge and cultivating people, strive to be good teachers with four virtues that satisfy the Party and the people, and implement the important concept of people's city, so as to develop Yangpu into a district strong in education, and further promote the innovative development of Yangpu.

He Youwei, Yangpu Modern Vocational School Affiliated to Shanghai Normal University

He Youwei has stuck to the front line over the 33 years since she started her career as a teacher, been named the school's teacher morality models many times, been selected as a district backbone teacher twice in a row, and received other honors such as Yangpu Gardener Award and golden instructor for the National Vocational College Skills Competition.

 

She is the number one contributor to the "Five-Gold Grand Slam". In 2016, she and her team, on behalf of Shanghai, participated in the National Vocational College Skills Competition known as the "Olympics" for secondary vocational school students, and five students claimed five golds in four categories, including Chinese hot dishes, winning honor for Shanghai's vocational education. She is an unsung hero. Facing the shortage of culinary teachers, she has organized teachers to learn skills, participate in enterprise practices, enter competitions and lead students to competitions, and guided teachers in growing up, so as to develop cooking into an advantageous major of the school, and cultivate a number of leading vocational education talents.

 

She believed that every life deserves to be well treated. She knows culinary students very well, and teaches them to behave themselves, practice skills, be aggressive and be grateful. She is affectionately called "Mom He".

 

Xu Weikang, No. 1 High School Affiliated to Tongji University

 

Xu Weikang has been in charge of the preparation and management of the Xinjiang class of No. 1 High School Affiliated to Tongji University since 2013, enjoying great popularity among students for his charisma, and amiable and humorous teaching style. Over the past decade, he has visited many Xinjiang classes in Shanghai, headed all the way to the Office of Affairs of Xinjiang Students in Inland Areas, Department of Education of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, to find out the purpose of running Xinjiang senior high school classes in inland areas and the management mode, visited several classes with students of both the Han nationality and ethnic minorities in Xinjiang, and written regulations on the management of Xinjiang senior high school classes in inland areas, as well as management methods.

 

He proposed progressive and integrated education, set up sports teams, a dragon and lion dance club, a choir, a dance club and a Kun Opera club, carried out cultural identity education, and led his students in achieving brilliant results in various city-level competitions. The university admission rate of graduates from the Xinjiang class has been stable above 98%, and the admission rate of universities under Project 985 and Project 211 has been high above 46.3%. During COVID-19 prevention in recent two years, led by Xu, the school's office of affairs of Xinjiang senior high school students in inland areas has made painstaking efforts, conducted outstanding management, stayed vigilant against COVID-19, and made remarkable contributions to the safety and good health of teachers and students.

 

Yao Wen, High School Affiliated to Shanghai University of Finance and Economics

Over the 38 years since starting her career as a teacher, Yao Wen has stuck to the front line of education and teaching, devoting herself to education. She is diligent in learning, good at management, bold in innovating, ready to dedicate, and firm in ideals and beliefs. In July 2022, despite diabetes she had suffered for years, she headed to Ninglang Yi Autonomous County, Yunnan Province with insulin, for a three-year educational aid.

 

She overcame ill health, severe allergies and other difficulties, to standardize teaching at Ninglang No.2 High School. She attended and evaluated lessons, and organized joint teaching and research of Shanghai, Yunnan and Tibet many times to improve teachers' teaching ability. She cared about the health development of teachers and students by establishing Yao Wen Expert Studio at the school, setting up a psychological workstation at the Ninglang Education and Sports Bureau, conducted a county-wide survey on the psychological situation of primary and secondary school teachers and kindergarten teachers, and launched an WeChat official account that has pushed 26 articles on mental health.

 

She has vigorously promoted the teaching reform of Ninglang, gaining high recognition from the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, the CPC Yunnan Provincial Committee and the CPC Lijiang Municipal Committee, and fulfilling her original mission as a Party member.

 

Ye Youjia, Tieling High School

 

There is a sci-tech "gardener" - Ye Yujia in Tieling High School. As the chief counselor of the school and the head of the interdisciplinary teaching and research group, over the 18 years, she has been devoted to biological teaching, probed into plant cultivation, and sowed the seeds of science for students with an urban "farmland".

 

She, active in doing and thinking, has led the construction of the campus eco-park to implement the philosophy of "all-round, high-quality and eco-oriented development"; she has worked with determination, brought her strengths into play, and innovatively organized zero-base ecological technology activities. Thanks to her efforts, the school was named "Shanghai's Characteristic Sci-tech School". She was selected as "Shanghai's Excellent Instructor for Sci-tech Activities" and "Yangpu's Excellent Chief Sci-tech Counselor" many times.

 

She took on heavy responsibility as the head of the school's interdisciplinary teaching and research group amid the reform of the academic test for junior high school students, led the teachers on the group in exploring strategies for improving students' scientific literacy and studying interdisciplinary cases, and won awards such as the first prize in Yangpu's Third Interdisciplinary Case Study Assignment Design.

 

Wu Hongchun, Dongliaoyang High School

 

As the principal of a high school where 90% of the students are migrant children, Wu Hongchun innovatively came up with the concept of "integrated education". Over the years, he has led the teachers in exploring and developing the "integrated education" extended curriculum covering life experience, sunshine sports, humanities and arts, and lives, aiming to educate every migrant appropriately, foster their self-confidence and literacy, and achieve the vision of integrating into Shanghai and returning home with success.

 

God rewards the diligent. Under his leadership, the school's students have achieved brilliant and fruitful results in various competitions. As an outstanding Party member sticking to the front line of education, Yan Jing has strong political awareness and power of practice. She has made unremitting efforts on teaching and research, fully devoted herself to primary school music teaching, conducted open demonstrations and won awards at the national, provincial and municipal levels.

 

She has taken an active part in the Shanghai Teacher Training Center's aid to Tibet, Yunnan, Zunyi and other areas, gaining high praise from local teachers. She has instructed and trained young teachers of Yangpu Primary School Education Group with full devotion, exploring and developing an open and democratic training mode. In recent years, many young teachers instructed by her have won the first or second prize in regional teaching and basic teaching skills competitions.

 

As a disciplinary member of the municipal central group, she has constantly played her role in disciplinary guidance and demonstration, given lectures and developed courses, conducted research and exploration with other teachers, and shared practical results and research findings. Wang Liqing, Dahushan Road No.1 Primary School

 

Over the past 30 years, Wang Liqing has made diligent efforts on teaching and research, and made innovation with courage, thus being selected as a training target of municipal famous teacher, a municipal outstanding instructor for the standardized training of trainee teachers, a district famous teacher, a teacher morality model, a top-notch education talent, and the leader of an advanced collective in learning from Yu Yi.

 

She firmly believes that a good teacher should not only teach children knowledge and skills, but also made them upright, kind, responsible and ambitious builders of the motherland. She always teaches and studies with sincerity. She is a good teacher liked and trusted by students and their parents, as well as a teaching expert, scholarly mentor and helpful friend to her colleagues. As the first primary school English teacher to record a lesson on the air during the COVID-19 outbreak, she was widely praised by colleagues and parents. She wrote the professional series - Learning English with Pleasure and A Good Class is the Absolute Principle, and published her monograph - Being an Enlightening Teacher.

Cheng Xia, Shanghai Dayi Foreign Language Primary School

 

Cheng Xia is a backbone English teacher in the district, as well as the dean of students and the director of the research office of the school. As a Party member, she has stayed true to her original educational aspiration, stuck to her post, achieved her educational goals by actions, and been awarded honors such as "Yangpu Young Job Master" and "Yangpu Gardener Award".

 

She loves teaching and children. During recovering from a fracture, she gave lessons in a wheelchair and on a crutch. During the COVID-19 outbreak, as a volunteer, she often worked late into the night to ensure normal teaching order. She cares about the students by providing free tutoring online for the children of medical staff in her class.

 

As a young executive, she has grown up as the dean of students and director of research. She has been in charge of the school's education and teaching, curriculum structure, and municipal and district research projects, and undertaken the compilation of the new textbooks for teachers in Shanghai. She has taken the lead in work, and given full play to her vanguard and exemplary role as a Party member.

 

Hu Mingwei, Yangpu Yangfan School

 

Hu Mingwei has switched from general education to special education, created a harbor for special children to fulfill their dreams with his heart, and promoted the characteristic development of Yangfan School through intensive practice, thus being awarded the title of "Advanced Individual in Special Education of Shanghai".

 

He has practiced the concept of "learning by heart, managing by heart, educating by heart, researching by heart and planning by heart", led his team in running special education satisfying the people, and won titles such as "Shanghai's Advanced Collective in Special Education". He has adhered to the combination of medicine and education, created a model of education and rehabilitation training featuring "optional class + individual training", built a life training base, and set up cultural and sports clubs to help special children rehabilitate and grow.

 

He has built a professional teacher team through projects, and explored the new model of special education - "integration of general education with special education". He has implemented the strategy of "poverty alleviation through education" by providing remote online support and visiting Meitan, Zunyi to promote the development of special education. He has authored a number of educational books, led educational research projects for special children, and won the Shanghai Research Award many times.

 

Xu Qin, Yanji Kindergarten

 

Over the past 27 years as a teacher, she has won a series of honors, including the Second Prize in the Shanghai Teaching Skills Competition for Young and Middle-aged Teachers of Primary and Secondary Schools, the Second Prize in Yangpu's Hundred Flowers Cup Teaching Competition, "Yangpu Famous Teacher by Discipline" and "Outstanding Trainee Instructor". She has published a number of articles on core journals such as Early Childhood Education, and co-authored books such as Advanced Handbook for Novice Teachers.

 

She, a warm companion to children, squats down to listen to children and whisper to them. As a practitioner of the curriculum reform, she has integrated moral education into the whole process of education and carrying out patriotic education close to children's life experiences. A teaching activity - "Reasons for Loving China", designed and organized by her, drew children's attention to China's "four new great inventions", and sowed the seeds of cultural confidence in their hearts.

 

As a Party member, she strove to fight COVID-19 as a community volunteer, provided 343 hours of volunteer services, and established Yanji Party Member Mom Storytelling Team to serve community residents. As a famous teacher in Yangpu, she delivered education to the countryside by giving lectures and conducting teaching research for the Third Kindergarten of Lichuan, Jiangxi Province, and is about to go to Lijiang, Yunnan Province for educational aid.
