At 19:30 today, Theatre YOUNG, which started renovation four years ago, will be opened again to the audience to unveil her new look. The drama When We Two Parted produced by Drama Nine will be premiered here in Shanghai as the first play in the Performance Season Young. It is also the second drama of Drama Nine Republic of China Intellectuals.

Gaining 8.9 scores on both Douban and Damai, it is also the Best Drama for Small Theatre of the Year in the 5^th Chinese Theatre Awards. As the special drama played in 2021 Wuzhen Town Drama Festival, drama played in 2020 Beijing International Comedy Festival, and drama played in the Summer Season of National Grand Theatre, etc., it has profound meaning behind the easy-going form. The drama When We Two Parted tells the story of lady physicists Qu Jianxiong and Gu Jingwei, who met and knew each other in the affectionate and restrained way. The two physicists, and Ding Xilin, head of the Physics Institute, had to make choices and abandon some in the midst of ideal and reality in the bad time, presenting gentle force against the ups and downs of fate.

The Drama Nine is a young drama team founded by alumni of Peking University. The founder is Zhu Hongxuan, a young drama director and screenwriter of Peking University. The characters in the drama, including the two lady physicists and Director Ding Xilin of the Physics Institute, are originated from the genuine figures in history, e.g., Wu Jianxiong, who was known as “China's Madame Curie”, Gu Jinghui, the first lady Ph.D of physics in China’s modern history, and Ding Xilin, a famous patriotic physicist and dramatist.

The drama When We Two Parted was on show from September 2 to 4. As required by epidemic prevention regulations, YOUNG Theater had completed and implemented a number of epidemic prevention and control measures in advance before the debut, so as to secure venue control and protection for the audience, cast members and staff.

In addition to the comprehensive preventive disinfection of the theater environment and key areas, the Theatre YOUNG will also rely on the “digital sentinel” to do a good job in the inspection of venue code, Shanghai code, travel history code and nucleic acid detection information, equip various epidemic prevention materials, and implement the qualified wearing of masks by audiences. Before entering the venue, spectators need to scan the venue code and the health code to pass the gate. In addition, spectators must have a negative nucleic acid certificate (in Shanghai) within 72 hours (subject to the time when the nucleic acid test report is issued) and their body temperature is normal before entering the venue. While providing diversified art experiences, Theater YOUNG is making every effort to ensure the health and safety of every spectator.

The debut of When We Two Parted kicked off the Performance Season of Theatre YOUNG. The subsequent performances will be divided into seven parts, and 92 performances will be made in 28 dramas, including eight debuts in China and seven debuts in Shanghai.
