Tens of Thousands Pour into Fuxing Island for Grand Opening of "ACGN Island" August 11,2025
On August 8, Fuxing Island in Yangpu, Shanghai, went viral! The world's first "RED LAND Open World Adventure Island" by Xiaohongshu opened its doors, setting off a massive online buzz. The once-quiet industrial island turned into an "ACGN Island" overnight. It drew in tens of thousands of young people, with tickets snapped up within minutes. The ACGN crowd is going crazy over it!
On the first day, let's head to the island to see the amazing buzz.
Even though the park did not officially open until 2 p.m., a long line had already formed at the entrance of RED LAND by noon. Once players "landed on the island", they grabbed an equipment pack, picked their characters, dived into their own storylines, and collected "memory badges". Over 50 top-notch games and ACGN IPs all had their own spots for interaction on the island.

Unlike traditional indoor comic cons, RED LAND turned the 80,000-square-meter Fuxing Island into three cool zones: "Time-Strand Port" (Shipyard Park), "Phoenix Trial" (Gongqing Road Warehouse), and "Zen Grove" (Fuxing Island Park). Once players "landed on the island", they picked their characters, grabbed an equipment pack, dived into their own storylines - it was like a real-life RPG! Industrial relics like cranes and rails mixed with ACGN elements to create a distinctive "cyber-industry" vibe. Every photo you take looks like a movie scene!

The event brought together over 50 top-notch IPs from the world of anime and gaming, like Pokémon, Genshin Impact, Honor of Kings, EVA, and Cyberpunk 2077. You could catch the Sun siblings at the Honor of Kings booth, swap merchandise at the JX3 Onlinelawn concert, or even see the gods' workplace in The Non - Human Days. "This is my first time at such a 'wild'-style big-time comic con. The weather's hot, but nothing compared to how excited I am to meet the big names," said a young fan.

The adventure was not just for players to experience alone. At the entrances and near the booths of each themed zone, you might bump into NPCs in cosplay outfits. They helped guide you and answer any questions. Top trending cosplayers like "Karena & Rouxi" and "The Humble Wukong" also showed up and hung out with players on the island. The role-playing tasks helped players connect and break the ice naturally. It created a cool social loop where you team up online and then meet in person offline.

When night came, the Echo Project Anime & Game Music Festival really heated up. Singers like Mariya Takeuchi and Ayumi Miyazaki performed classic ACG songs, along with a cool drone show. It was a total blast for your eyes and ears!

During the event, Yangpu handed out 5 million yuan in "Fun in Digital Yangpu" vouchers. They work with thousands of stores in the Wujiaochang business district and the Shanghai Fashion Center. With your ticket, you get special deals. The ACGN shuttle rides and themed pop-ups made the whole area buzz with excitement.

This "mega event" introduced flocks of young people to Fuxing Island through RED LAND. It is the only inland island on the Huangpu River in Shanghai.
In December 2024, the Shanghai Quantum Spatiotemporal Innovation Base was inaugurated on Fuxing Island, kicking off a brand-new chapter for its development. The island boasts roughly 300,000 square meters of industrial space and venues. These areas not only nurture a thriving ecosystem for startups and innovators but also open up countless opportunities for round-the-clock events that seamlessly blend culture, travel, business, sports, and exhibitions.

Bai Ban, Head of Community Marketing at Xiaohongshu, said he was hooked the first time he set foot on Fuxing Island. Its blend of old-school charm and futuristic vibes matches lots of scenes from games and anime. Through RED LAND, Xiaohongshu wants to introduce more young people to this cool island that’s steeped in history but also feels super fresh and imaginative.
Fuxing Island's future plan is creating a cool, open vibe that young entrepreneurs will love. It will focus on tech intelligence, design art leadership, and beautiful waterfront spaces. The goal is to build an island that is all about digital intelligence, design art, and putting people first.
When ACGN music played on the century-old shipyard, it is not just the sound of youth. It is the city's heartbeat, always innovating and never stopping.
