This year's Spring Festival Gala saw Zhu Zhongde, a resident of Wujiaochang Sub-district, and his "Dream Courtyard" capture the hearts of the nation. What was once a neglected corner has now blossomed into a vibrant space thanks to the collaborative efforts of the sub-district, the neighborhood committee, community planners, local residents, and compassionate enterprises.

At the recent 4th session of the 6th Wujiaochang Community Representative Meeting, announcements highlighted an ambitious plan for the sub-district. By 2025, the sub-district aims to develop an additional ten "Dream Courtyard" community gardens. This initiative has now been formally integrated into the sub-district's agenda for enhancing civil welfare in 2025.

The evolution of the Dream Courtyard from a single flower to a flourishing garden space is a testament to the power of community collaboration. In the Siping Residential Area, where the Dream Courtyard resides, recent years have seen a series of community micro-renovation initiatives that extend far beyond this initiative. The Rainbow Garden and Time-Space Garden stand out as other model projects, each brought to life through the combined efforts of residents and local authorities.  "The neighborhood committee, the owner association, and the property management - these three key stakeholders have provided unwavering support throughout the entire process," said Li Zhihong, Secretary of the Party Branch of Siping Residential Area. "Our community is brimming with talents who actively engage and bring in external resources. These experiences have truly deepened my understanding of what it means to have a 'community of communities'."

The acclaim garnered by the "Dream Courtyard" has furnished Wujiaochang Sub-district with a blueprint for enhancing grassroots social governance. "Moving forward, we must cultivate a brand ethos. Building on our current achievements, we will further distill our experience, refine our methodologies, and institutionalize our practices. We aim to master the art of integration, amplification, optimization, and elevation, collectively forging a community governance brand unique to Wujiaochang," said a head of Wujiaochang Sub-district at the meeting.

Wujiaochang is dedicated to attuning itself to the people's sentiments, delivering premium services and meticulous management right at their doorsteps. Just prior to the community representative meeting, the sub-district convened a city renewal promotion conference, signaling a vigorous push to accelerate and expand urban renewal initiatives.

With the Fudan Area residential enhancement project underway, the sub-district reaffirmed at the community representative meeting its commitment to completing 300,000 square meters of "Beautiful Home" projects this year, advancing rainwater and sewage system renovations in 41 residential areas, and initiating the construction of an additional 500,000 square meters of "Beautiful Homes".

According to a sub-district official, urban renewal is a formidable task, laden with responsibilities and high standards. The objective is to "complete one area, excel in one area, and showcase one area", thereby elevating both quality and substance. The focus will also be on leveraging mechanisms like the "three planners and three consultants" to orchestrate orderly participation from diverse stakeholders, collectively creating a 15-minute community life circle. The sub-district will also vigorously propel the development of the Fudan International Innovation and Culture Community, optimizing layouts, enhancing environments, and fostering the seamless integration of urban communities with the century-old university. Efforts will be intensified to enrich the community's "atmosphere", achieving a harmonious blend of functional and aesthetic elements, as well as cultural heritage.

At the meeting, certificates of honor were bestowed upon Wujiaochang Sub-district for its outstanding community creative governance projects under Yangpu's 2024 "Harmony and Prosperity Plan". Representatives from various industries and fields offered targeted suggestions, contributing wisdom and strength to the construction of a "five-area" integrated innovation hub.
