California Pavilion Opens, Bringing New Momentum to International Collaboration in Yangpu November 07,2025
On the morning of November 6, the California Pavilion opened at Booth B6-03, Hall 3, National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) during the 8th CIIE. This pavilion, a fixture at the CIIE for eight years, hosted a grand opening ceremony where businesses gathered to explore the bright future of California-China cooperation. Chen Jing, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Shanghai Municipal People's Congress and President of the Shanghai People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (SPAFFC), delivered addresses, joined by Vice Liu Jinyuan.

The pavilion featured notable Californian universities, organizations, and companies such as the Port of Oakland, Alameda County, Samuel Merritt University, East Bay Economic Development Agency, and Villa Farnese. These displays showcased California's rich diversity and unique charm, further deepening the long-standing connection with the CIIE.
In the interactive segment, California's exhibitors shared their CIIE experiences, highlighted California's strengths across various sectors, and looked forward to future collaboration and economic growth.

For eight years, the California Pavilion has acted as a "fast track" for companies to access the Chinese market, aiding them in finding opportunities and expanding partnerships on the CIIE's global platform.
California's economy, topping 4 trillion U.S. dollars, is the largest among U.S. states, offering a strong base for cooperation. China, as California's top trading partner, maintains close economic ties with the state.
In recent years, Yangpu's exchanges with California have deepened through platforms like the San Francisco Bay Area Council, yielding rich outcomes. Cooperation spans tech innovation, talent development, trade, and cultural exchanges, tightening the collaborative network between the two sides.
On November 5, the opening day of the CIIE, the 2025 California-Shanghai Cooperation Forum took place in Yangpu, marking the beginning of deeper cooperation between Yangpu and California during this CIIE. Leveraging the CIIE's global platform, companies from California and Shanghai are furthering their interactions, creating valuable opportunities for collaboration between Chinese and U.S. businesses.

Yangpu is now vigorously developing an innovative modern industrial system focused on the digital economy, following the "1+2+3+4" model. It has become a hub for top digital economy companies like Douyin, Meituan, Bilibili, and JD Dada. In 2024, the software and information technology services industry achieved revenues of over 320 billion yuan. Multinational corporations and foreign company headquarters, such as Nike, Henkel, and Siemens, have also set up shop here. Over 1,400 high-tech enterprises and nearly 500 specialized and innovative firms have taken root and flourished. The innovative vitality of Yangpu's international collaboration is surging.
During this year's CIIE, the pavilion that has seen eight years of CIIE will keep fueling Yangpu's international cooperation and open a new brilliant chapter. Looking ahead, Yangpu will deepen ties with global innovation hubs like California, leveraging the flexibility and reach of local exchanges to keep penning new chapters in international cooperation.
