To further enhance services for foreign enterprises and leverage the clustering effect of leading German-speaking companies, an effort is being made to foster a robust ecosystem for these businesses in Yangpu. On September 26, 2024, Yangpu organized the 2024 Yangpu German Speaking Enterprises Roundtable & Unveiling Ceremony of Yangpu German Innovation Center. Liu Jinyuan, Deputy Head of Yangpu District; Lukas Meyer, Deputy Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Shanghai; Qian Yufei, Finance Head of the Process Automation Business Unit at Siemens Digital Industries Group; and Yu Jiang, Chairman of the Yangpu Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment, jointly unveiled the Yangpu German Innovation Center. The event was attended by representatives from AHK Greater China; the Sino-German College of Tongji University, German School Shanghai, key German-speaking foreign enterprises in Yangpu, and relevant local departments.

The Innovation Center is set to create more sustainable innovation elements and scenarios, and will organize a variety of events such as industry summits, thematic forums, and industrial training to continuously promote the aggregation of foreign capital and the development of the intelligent manufacturing industry, thereby invigorating Yangpu's export-oriented economy. Prior to the meeting, the attendees visited the Siemens Shanghai Yangpu Process Industry Digital Experience Center, witnessing the inauguration of the Yangpu German Innovation Center.

At the subsequent 2024 Yangpu German Speaking Enterprises Roundtable, Yu read out the initiative for foreign enterprises to take deep roots in Yangpu. "Moving forward, the Yangpu Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment will continue as a bridge between the government and enterprises, precisely addressing and serving the needs of enterprises, and fostering smooth communication and positive interaction between the government and enterprises," he said.

Representatives from key German-speaking enterprises in Yangpu, including Siemens, Continental, and Henkel, discussed and exchanged views on their operational and developmental status as well as the key challenges they face, with relevant departments addressing each concern raised.

Yangpu boasts a long-standing tradition of cooperation with German-speaking countries in various fields such as trade, technology, and culture. The presence of leading German companies like Siemens, Continental, Henkel, and ThyssenKrupp has been instrumental in fueling Yangpu's economic growth. We are also home to the Sino-German College of Tongji University, a joint initiative by the Chinese and German governments, and German School Shanghai, recognized as the world's largest German overseas school that primarily teaches in German. These institutions have created favorable conditions for technological innovation cooperation and the transformation of achievements, as well as for talent retention and attraction for German-speaking enterprises. Furthermore, foreign enterprises in Yangpu are currently benefiting from an extremely favorable macro environment, vast development and investment opportunities, and a tradition of sincere and harmonious relationships with Yangpu, which can be described as "right timing, right place, and right people". The attending companies expressed their commitment to deeply root themselves in Yangpu, maintain their development focus, and contribute to the growth momentum by continuing to expand and innovate in Yangpu, while also enticing new investors to establish their businesses here.

This year, Yangpu has aimed to provide competitive business services and to create a distinctive foreign investment ecosystem for foreign investment with Yangpu characteristics, introducing the "Warm Yangpu" foreign investment service brand to protect and assist in the development of enterprises, encouraging enterprises to make new connections, discover new opportunities, and ignite new growth engines. The 2024 Yangpu German Speaking Enterprises Seminar & Unveiling Ceremony of Yangpu German Innovation Center is part of the "Warm Yangpu" events.
