Yangpu District People's Government Signs Cooperation Framework Agreement with UNSW Sydney April 23,2024

The signing ceremony of the cooperation framework agreement between the Yangpu District People's Government and UNSW Sydney was held on the morning of April 23. Present were Xue Kan, Secretary of the CPC Yangpu District Committee; Zhou Haiying, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Yangpu District Committee and Head of Yangpu District; Wang Hao, Deputy Head of Yangpu District; Attila Brungs, President of UNSW Sydney; and Colin Grant, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Global of UNSW Sydney.

Xue warmly welcomed Attila Brungs and his delegation to Yangpu, noting that UNSW Sydney is a world-renowned research university with profound academic background and great international influence. Yangpu is a fertile land for innovation and entrepreneurship that is rich in scientific and educational resources, and home to a multitude of universities, research institutes and sci-tech companies. He hoped that the two sides would maintain close contacts, deepen practical cooperation and strengthen resource sharing in education and training, innovation and entrepreneurship, people-to-people exchanges and other fields, in a joint bid to open a new page of innovative development.

Brungs was amazed by the constant changes of Yangpu, expressing his heartfelt thanks for Yangpu's permanent attention and support to the UNSW China Centre. Yangpu boasts a concentration of innovation factors and a strong innovation atmosphere, and there is a broad space for cooperation between the two sides, he said, expecting that the two sides would cement cooperation and jointly carry out education and training, academic exchanges and other activities.

Witnessed by Zhou and Brungs, Wang and Grant signed the cooperation framework agreement between the Yangpu District People's Government and UNSW Sydney.

Founded in 1949, UNSW Sydney, as a member of the Group of Eight in Australia, is a university with an international strategic vision, a passion for innovation and entrepreneurship, and a profound academic background. Since forging a partnership in 2017, Yangpu and UNSW Sydney have jointly organized the 1st China-Australia Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, promoted the establishment of the UNSW China Center in Changyang Campus, and carried out a series of high-level academic forums and production-education-research matching activities, attracting a host of outstanding talents to take root in Yangpu. The two sides made clear the plan for next-round cooperation in the agreement, under which they will further deepen cooperation in innovation and entrepreneurship, production, education and research, training and internships.
