Parent-Child Citywalk: Measuring Community Warmth and Discovering Civilization January 16,2026
"Everyday corners hide so much community wisdom!" The "Home in the Community, Books for Every Family" Family Citywalk wrapped up in Yangpu's Chuangzhifang Community. 20 families shifted from being onlookers to co-builders, exploring the "15-minute community life circle" and adding warmth to our civilized urban efforts.
From Strangers to Good Neighbors: Discovering True Feelings through a Wall and a Door
The event kicked off with Sun, a social worker from Yangpu's Haiya Family Education Service Center, who likened the community to a big classroom where everyone is both a student and a teacher. Guided by her, the parent-child families visited the first stop - the community Shanghainese wall, a place brimming with local charm.

Lu Zhen, Secretary of the General Party Branch of Guoding No. 1 Residential Area, warmly introduced: "This once-empty space is now our Shanghainese garden. Each word on the wall holds the city's local memories." The children eagerly followed Secretary Lu, learning phrases like "Nong hao" (Hello) and "Xie xie nong" (Thank you), connecting with the city's cultural roots.

A short distance away, Secretary Lu pointed to the special "Neighbor Door" and shared its story: "This door has a heartwarming story. It was once a wall that kept neighbors apart, but through collective suggestions and democratic discussions, it became today's 'Heart-to-Heart Path'." At this, the children eagerly took photos, turning the door into a "shared memory".

Beauty around the Corner: Great Governance Wisdom in Small Spaces
The parent-child families continued to the lively Chuangzhi Farm. Yun Xi, the farmer manager, pointed to the green space, saying, "This was once a forgotten urban corner, but now, thanks to community care, it's a shared nature paradise. True community governance empowers everyone, turning personal passions into community treasures." The children felt the joy of co-building as they touched the plants, guided by Yun Xi.

Next, they visited the innovative family education space - Duoyun Bookstore. Yu Liwen, the bookstore manager, explained, "Our 'Home + Bookstore' model transforms this space into a 'cultural lounge' within the community, more than just a bookstore."

Handmade Warmth Weaves Community Belonging
Back at the Chuangzhifang Community Neighborhood Center, Fu, the neighborhood coordinator, had materials ready. "Bamboo weaving connects people," she said while demonstrating. "Like neighborly bonds, it needs care and attention." Under her guidance, families worked together, sharing tips and laughter.

Ms. Sun, the activity leader, summed up, "We visited five spots and met five community builders. From Secretary Lu's stories to Ms. Yun Xi's green philosophy, Ms. Yu's cultural space, and Ms. Fu's craft, these dedicated individuals bring warmth and authenticity to community life."
A 15-Minute Walk to Create a Civilized Urban Vision
The parent-child citywalk is like a walking lesson taught by community builders. It shows that the 15-minute life circle is about closeness and richness, not just convenience. From Shanghainese wall successors to "Neighbor Door" community planners, from farm green practitioners to academy cultural disseminators, and to handicraft successors - each person embodies the "people's city" concept through action.
Building a national civilized urban area needs every community member and family. Such walks plant "community is my home" seeds in children and help adults rediscover local streets and warmth. Moving forward, the Yangpu Women's Federation will engage more community builders, cultural successors, and residents in diverse practices to create a more beautiful, civilized, and harmonious home vision.
