On November 8, Our City—The 2024 Shanghai International Photography Festival & 17th Shanghai International Photography Art Exhibition opened at the Shanghai Fashion Center.

This event was hosted by the Shanghai Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the Yangpu District People's Government, and the Shanghai Photographers Association, and organized by the Publicity Department of the CPC Yangpu District Committee, the Yangpu Culture and Tourism Administration, and the Yangpu Federation of Literary and Art Circles.

The exhibition showcased a diverse array of works across news, documentary, art, multimedia, and digital innovation, offering a visual feast for citizens.

With a focus on the practice of people's city building, nearly 1,300 pieces were on display, comprising thematic creations, commissioned works, and socially solicited submissions. The main exhibition area features 174 artists, including 17 international photographers with 324 works.

Within the Shanghai Fashion Center's runway exhibition area, there are five thematic sections: "Shanghai Engagement", "Time Photography Studio", "City Pulse", "Future Dynamics", and "Fun of Yangpu", each presenting the city's character and the artist's vision with boundless charm.

The exhibition area in Building 8 features four thematic sections: "Space and Landscape", "Vibrant Life", "Streets and Rivers", and "Not Longer the Same River", capturing the achievements in people's city building, the city's dynamic expressions through time, personal stories and emotions under the urban canopy, and the limitless potential for photographic art development with intelligent technology support.

The exhibited works directed attention towards homes, communities, living spaces, and work environments, revealing the city's fluidity and richness across historical and contemporary dimensions through unique perspectives and superb photographic techniques. This event aimed to foster an atmosphere where photography and daily life, art and city, complement each other, interact, and coexist in a multicultural ecosystem, enhancing the public's cultural and artistic fulfillment and showcasing the vivid imagery that "cities need not only height but also warmth" through photographic art and related activities.

The "Shanghai International Photography Art Exhibition" is the first major international photography art exhibition organized by a local province or city in China and is one of the most internationally influential photography events in the country.
