The Yangpu session of the Shanghai International Light and Shadow Festival leverages Yangpu's industrial resource strengths, using light and shadow art as the medium, and synergizes with major district events such as the Shanghai College Student Tourism Festival and the Shanghai German Beer Festival. It highlights themes like the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the 5th anniversary of the concept of people's city, showcasing Yangpu's unique features and the "life belt" brand. The festival will display the achievements in landscape lighting, and deliver a diverse, cross-disciplinary Yangpu light and shadow art event that fosters mutual benefits. This initiative will boost various industries including commerce, tourism, culture, sports and exhibitions, turning the blueprint of building a "four high-end urban area" into the reality of innovation and development.

Key Events

Opening & Lighting Ceremony

On the night of September 29 (Sunday), at Yangpu Riverside's Life Belt Square, a light and shadow show will highlight the WorldSkills Museum, Jiangwan Stadium and Wujiaochang, symbolizing the transformation from Yangpu's century-old industrial heritage into a vibrant life belt under the theme of "Show Time".

Industry Synergy

On the night of September 25, coinciding with the Shanghai College Student Tourism Festival, architectural projections and light shows will be performed at Jiangwan Stadium and the Wujiaochang business district to warm up for the Light and Shadow Festival.

From September 26 to October 6, the festival will coordinate with the Shanghai • Life Belt Riverside German Beer Festival, Jazz Music Festival (provisional) and Street Art Show (provisional) to create themed light and shadow performances at Yangpu Riverside's Life Belt Square, enhancing the appeal of nighttime activities.

From September 29 to October 6, light and shadow art floats, creatively decorated by artists, will be introduced in Wujiaochang and Yangpu Riverside.

Public Co-creation

From September 29 to October 6, interactive light installations themed "I Love Yangpu" will be placed in Yangpu Riverside, KIC Plaza and Jiangwanli Plaza, inviting residents to illuminate Yangpu's landmarks by adding their light bulbs to the structure.

From September 29 to October 6, Daxue Road, Yangpu Riverside and Jiangwanli Plaza will feature "Yangpu, 18 Years Old Forever" inflatable installations created by university students, to embellish the Yangpu's nightscape and foster an atmosphere of light art.

Light and Shadow Show

From September 29 to October 6, the "Show Time" of Yangpu will present a series of light and shadow shows at Jiangwan Stadium, the Wujiaochang business district and Yangpu Riverside (Fisherman's Wharf-Yangpu Bridge). These will highlight Yangpu's "life belt", "innovation belt", "cultural belt" and "talent belt" through a combination of architectural projections and coordinated building displays.

Light and Shadow Art Installations

From September 29 to October 6, light and shadow art installations will be positioned at Daxue Road, KIC Plaza, B·Link and Yangpu Riverside, transforming these spaces into an open-air art gallery and creating an iconic destination for social media check-ins, effectively turning Yangpu into an expansive stage for cultural and artistic expression.

Launch of Yangpu Light and Shadow Map

In the lead-up to the Light and Shadow Festival, the Yangpu Light and Shadow Map will be launched online and offline to guide visitors through the festival's highlights.
