To make museums a popular destination to boost Shanghai's cultural brand and drive the development of the city's night economy, and to make "visiting museums" a lifestyle and ideal summer hangout for citizens and tourists, several museums in Yangpu have launched their "night mode" this summer, inviting you to spend wonderful and fascinating evenings together! Let's take a look →

The Museum of China Press and Publication

The Museum of China Press and Publication officially opened to the public in June last year after 20 years of preparation. The museum has a total of 5 floors, divided into 6 halls, covering an area of about 10,000 square meters, with a collection of over 600,000 items. It covers the general history of press and publication, printing technology, children's publishing, art design, digital publishing, audio-visual publishing and other content. The 6 exhibition halls display a total of 766 pieces/sets of exhibits from the late Qing dynasty, including books, periodicals, newspapers, records, manuscripts of celebrities, documents and archives, production tools, etc.

In this museum, visitors can step into the scene of the Kizil Grottoes in Baicheng County, Xinjiang. Looking up, there are splendid murals, and reaching out, there are rough stone walls... This is because the staff visited Xinjiang in advance to perform 3D scanning and data modeling of the cave itself, using multiple methods to "recreate" the grottoes on site.

The third floor of the museum also has a children's publishing hall, attracting visitors of three generations. From the publication "Little Friends" spanning a century, to one of the earliest domestic children's literature works "The Scarecrow", from traditional-style albums to comprehensive magazines integrating handicrafts, science popularization and other elements... The hall combines physical objects with text introductions, telling the development path of children's books.

With the theme of "The national anthem started from here" and the main line of "Rise up, unite as one, march forward", the exhibition hall displays 410 precious exhibits. Through the 2,000-square-meter five-movement boutique display, 4 ceremonial education locations, 18 multimedia interactive scenes, and multiple interpretations of 50 national anthem stories, citizens and tourists can feel the enduring patriotism of the national anthem in the new era and discover the enduring charm of red culture.
