From May 18 to 19, 2024, University Road will celebrate its first anniversary as a temporary pedestrian street.

Since its inauguration in 2023, under the overall coordination of the district committee and the district government, with the strong support of the relevant district department, and through the innovative operation and joint effort of KIC under Rui'an Xintiandi, University Road as a temporary pedestrian street has seen a continuous rise in popularity, influence, and foot traffic!

On the anniversary, Wujiaochang Street, in collaboration with KIC and the district commerce committee, has created the "Love on University Road, Blossom Youth" themed celebration activity.

"Love on University Road"

is not just a slogan, but also an interpretation of University Road’s unique charm. This is a hub for trendy culture, a creative laboratory driven by community collaboration across three districts, and an incubator for entrepreneurial dreams, each corner brimming with endless vitality.

"Blossom Youth"

symbolizes that KIC and University Road’s temporary pedestrian street will bring more creative, diverse activities and surprises, crafting a trendy inspiration block combining technology and culture.

About KIC University Road and Urban Renewal Research Exhibition

MeetU Lab, in collaboration with Suzhou University's Golden Mantle School of Architecture, will present a research exhibition about KIC University Road and Urban Renewal. MeetU Lab is a public innovation joint laboratory project created by KIC in partnership with Tongji University's Design and Creative College.

Community Joint Creation "Flowing Publicity" University Road Urban Furniture Co-Creation Finalists Exhibition

In December 2023, KIC, in cooperation with Tongji University’s Community Garden and Community Building Experiment Center, and the Four-Leaf Pavilion, initiated the University Road Urban Furniture Co-Creation Action. The initiative discusses urban furniture design with a diverse group of people using a participatory design method, integrating movable, multi-scenario, multifunctional, and local urban furniture into the University Road pedestrian street, surrounding nodes, or community spaces for use. This competition aims to further stimulate the vitality of University Road spaces, promoting public reflection on and observation of public spaces.

Eight finalist entries will be displayed during the event, exploring various possibilities of urban touch.

As the first store in North Shanghai, the American retro-academic style Discus Mart will bring a fashion show to University Road’s temporary pedestrian street featuring students from the Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts as models, showcasing new co-branded products from Discus Mart with New York University, Harvard University, and Berkeley University.

"Visiting Neighbors" was originally initiated in 2022 by KIC in partnership with Tongji University's Design and Creative College as a public innovation joint laboratory project. It aimed to break down the barriers between universities, communities, and enterprises, meeting individuals' needs to be seen and recognized in public life, and truly achieving people-oriented, diverse interactions and co-creation.

In 2024, "Visiting Neighbors" has officially been upgraded to a KIC local community IP, bringing diverse inspirational activities to local residents. On the anniversary of University Road as a temporary pedestrian street, a special "Neighborhood Card" has been introduced for local residents, offering exclusive discounts at local stores.

Local residents holding the "Neighborhood Card" can enjoy exclusive discounts at specified collaborative stores! Discount details are as follows:
