Spring is the season of romance. The cherry blossoms at Tongji University are on the verge of blooming, soon to present a pink sea of flowers.

For those planning to enjoy the cherry blossoms on the Tongji campus, take note! From March 23 to April 10, during the cherry blossom bloom, visiting the Tongji University Siping Road Campus will require a prior reservation!

Limited Campus Access During the Bloom

The Siping Road Campus of Tongji University will implement limited campus access management from March 23 to April 10, 2024 (the cherry blossom bloom period). The general public wishing to visit the Siping Road Campus must make an advance reservation, and only then will they be allowed to enter the campus on foot.

For the Jiading, Huaxi, and Hubei campuses, the existing visitation procedures remain unchanged; the general public can directly enter through the school gates by scanning their resident identity cards at the gate machines (or by presenting a passport, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan pass permits, and other valid documents for registration).

Vehicle entry into the campus is temporarily unavailable, and social vehicles are prohibited from entering. Requests for entry due to work-related purposes must be submitted by contacts from secondary units within the university to the school's security office.

Public Reservation for Campus Entry (Siping Road Campus Only)

From March 23 to April 10, the general public wishing to visit the campus must make a real-name, free reservation in advance through the "External Personnel Campus Entry Reservation System". Entry times are from 8:30 to 20:30 on weekdays and from 7:00 to 20:30 on weekends.

Starting at 8:00 on March 22, the general public can search for "Tongji University Mobile Portal" on WeChat or scan the QR code to enter the "External Personnel Campus Entry Reservation System" and complete the reservation by filling in true personal information as prompted, for the next day's visit (group reservations by social organizations are not accepted by the university).

From March 23, members of the public who have successfully made a reservation can enter the campus on foot through designated school gates by scanning their ID cards or a campus entry code at the gate machines (it is recommended to carry your ID card).

Exclusive Access Channel for Alumni Returning to Campus

During the cherry blossom season, alumni can enter the Siping Road Campus directly on foot without a reservation, using the electronic alumni card of Tongji University.

Starting March 23, the electronic alumni card page will display an "Enter Campus" function button. Alumni are asked to click this button before entering the campus gate, causing a timer to appear, and then show and verify it with the security personnel at the gate. Upon successful verification, alumni may enter the campus and then close the timer. It is prohibited to use someone else's identification inappropriately during verification at the gate.

Gentle Reminders

1. The reservation confirmation is for the individual's use only and is not transferable;

2. During the cherry blossom season, pay attention to personal and property safety. Minors, the elderly, and those with mobility issues must be accompanied by friends or family;

3. It is strictly prohibited to sell or distribute advertisements on campus, bring pets, carry flammable, explosive, corrosive substances, controlled weapons, or any items that may pollute the environment into the campus;

4. The use of drones and other "low, slow, and small" aircraft on campus is strictly forbidden;

5. Visitors are encouraged to enjoy the cherry blossoms respectfully, protect the ecological environment, take care of public facilities, and abide by public order;

6. Public visits to teaching buildings, research offices, administrative buildings, and student dormitories, among other areas, are not permitted;

7. The university has never authorized any other institutions or individuals to provide reservation or visitation services. The public is urged to be cautious of any form of paid services, such as "no-reservation" entry or charged guiding services, to avoid being deceived;

8. In the event of major activities on campus, the university may temporarily adjust the opening hours and the number of people allowed.

This year, the cherry blossom season is expected to start later than in previous years. Tongji University will adjust the campus gate management measures according to the end of the blooming period. At present, the flowers on the Tongji campus are awaiting the "optimal moment" to bloom. Everyone can start planning now, and don't forget to make your reservation a day in advance.
