Empowering Synergy through Exchange: YOT Education Delegation Visits Yangpu February 24,2025
In the middle of February, a delegation of 24 members from Yan Oi Tong (YOT) in Hong Kong, led by Mak Tak Chuen, Member of the CPPCC Shanghai Municipal Committee and Executive Vice Chairman of the Federation of Hong Kong-Shanghai Associations (FHUKSA), paid a visit to Yangpu. The delegation was composed of Cheng Wai Hong, Henry, Chairperson of the 45th Term Board of Directors, as well as members of FHUKSA and the YOT Board of Directors, YOT's senior executives in educational affairs, and the principals of four schools run by YOT: Yan Oi Tong Madam Lau Wong Fat Primary School, Y.O.T. Tin Ka Ping Primary School, Yan Oi Tong Chan Wong Shuk Fong Memorial Secondary School, and Yan Oi Tong Tin Ka Ping Secondary School. Present were Dong Xinwang, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Yangpu District Committee and Chairperson of the Yangpu Overseas Friendship Association (YOFA); Chen Min, Vice Chairperson of YOFA; Wu Qunying, Deputy Director of the Yangpu Education Bureau (YEB); heads of the International Exchange Center of YEB; and the principals of four schools in Yangpu District: Hangzhou Road No. 1 Primary School, Zhengli Road Primary School, Shanghai No. 15 Junior High School, and Shanghai Sanmen Junior School.
Mak introduced FHUKSA's efforts in creating a diversified exchange platform, organizing Shanghai-Hong Kong youth activities, and fostering interactions in basic education.
Cheng extended his heartfelt thanks for the thoughtful and elaborate arrangements from YOFA and YEB during the delegation's visit. He hoped that this exchange would foster a deeper mutual understanding between the primary and secondary schools affiliated with YOT and those in Yangpu, paving the way for more substantial collaboration in the years to come.
Chen provided a comprehensive overview of Yangpu and YOFA's initiatives in promoting Shanghai-Hong Kong youth exchanges. She emphasized the importance of this visit to enhancing the "district-to-district connection" mechanism and its underlying significance between the two sides.
Wu highlighted Yangpu's unique educational features and the progress made in basic education. He warmly welcomed the principals on the delegation to engage in more extensive communication with their counterparts in Yangpu, advocating for mutual learning and collaborative efforts to elevate Shanghai-Hong Kong educational collaboration to new heights.
Eight principals from Yangpu and YOT took the stage to present their schools, expressing their eagerness for deeper exchanges and the pursuit of collaborative opportunities during the planned school visits. In the presence of Dong, Mak, and Wu, the International Exchange Center of YEB and YOT signed a Memorandum of Cooperation and Exchange.
In the days that followed, the delegation paid visits to four schools in Yangpu: Hangzhou Road No. 1 Primary School, Zhengli Road Primary School, Shanghai No. 15 Junior High School, and Shanghai Sanmen Junior High School. The engagement among the eight schools was marked by in-depth discussions, lively interactions, and remarkably fruitful results.
