Melodies of Harmony: "Une Autre Source de Lumière" Sino-Français Zéro Carbone Concert Echoes along the Huangpu River June 07,2024

On the afternoon of June 6, the "Une Autre Source de Lumière" Sino-Français Zéro Carbone Concert took place at the Ash Bucket Art Space in Yangpu Riverside. Among the attendees were Xue Kan, Secretary of the CPC Yangpu District Committee; Mao Lijuan, Deputy Party Secretary and President of Shanghai University of Sport; Franck Serrano, Cultural Consul of the French Consulate General in Shanghai; Cheng Meihong, Deputy Director General of the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism; Bai Yanming, CEO of the Shanghai French School; Zhou Rong, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Yangpu District Committee; Gu Yujing, Vice Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Yangpu District People's Congress; Wang Hao, Deputy Head of Yangpu District; and Ming Yi, Vice Chairperson of the CPPCC Yangpu District Committee.

At the launch ceremony, Xue, Mao, Serrano, Cheng, Bai and Zhou jointly lighted up "Another Source of Light", signifying the official start of the concert and the accompanying market. A video from France was screened, conveying good wishes for the success of the concert and for the friendly cultural exchanges between the two countries.

In his welcome address, Wang underscored the significance of this year marking the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and France, as well as the China-France Year of Culture and Tourism. He remarked on the friendly exchanges and cooperation between the two countries, highlighting the depth and potential of the bilateral relationship. Wang expected that the concert will serve as a memorable chapter in the cultural exchanges and mutual learning between the two countries.

The concert featured a remarkable collaboration among Li Quan, an acclaimed composer and vocalist; Zhang Ran, a national second-level actress and the recipient of the 25th Shanghai Magnolia Drama Performance Award for Best New Actor and a post-90s Kunqu Opera artist; and Artemi, a French Gypsy jazz band. Their performance showcased the fusion of Chinese and French cultures through music. The event was powered entirely by clean energy and coincided with Cultural and Natural Heritage Day, reviving century-old Yangshupu Power Plant, and taking the audience to experience another life of artistic environmentalism through music.
