On the morning of May 19th, Xue Kan, the Secretary of the CPC Committee and Mayor of the District, held a meeting with Mr. Attila Brungs, the President of the University of New South Wales (UNSW), and his delegation. Lisa Zambran, Assistant Chancellor of UNSW, along with Freya Campbell, Executive Director of Strategic Communications, and Wei Xin, Director of China, were present at the meeting.

The two parties explored art exhibits and perused books showcasing unique Chinese traditional characteristics at the Xueyue Feng Yong Book Club, engaging in an in-depth exchange during their visit.

Mr. Xue Kan extended a warm welcome to Mr. Attila Brungs and his delegation during their visit. He highlighted that the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Sydney boasts a robust academic atmosphere and is a trailblazer in finance, engineering, architecture, and landscape disciplines. By harnessing the district's science and education resources, Yangpu has spearheaded the "three-zone linkage" concept, seamlessly merging university campuses, science and technology parks, and public communities. Embracing coexistence with universities and fostering mutual prosperity with enterprises, it charts a course of sustained transformation, blending old and new energy sources to drive sustainable economic and social development. The partnership between Yangpu and the University of New South Wales (UNSW) has yielded fruitful outcomes. Situated in the Changyang Campus, the UNSW China Center has facilitated a range of collaborations and staff exchanges, serving as a conduit for sharing humanities and knowledge. President Brungs' visit will further enhance cooperation and exchange between the two sides. We genuinely aim to expand and strengthen cooperation with UNSW across diverse fields and eagerly anticipate arranging visits and investment opportunities for esteemed alumni to Yangpu, fostering deeper friendships and exchanges between our two entities.

Mr. Brungs was deeply impressed by the rich traditional Chinese cultural heritage he encountered during his visit. He expressed sincere gratitude for the care and support extended to the UNSW China Center by Yangpu. Yangpu exudes a vibrant atmosphere of innovation and entrepreneurship, complemented by UNSW's distinction as Australia's hub for student startups. The two entities have engaged in a plethora of exchanges, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). They jointly orchestrated the inaugural China-Australia Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition and established the UNSW China Centre in Yangpu. In the future, both parties anticipate deepening and broadening their collaboration across three key areas: alumni resource development, student training programs, and cultural and creative exchanges. UNSW remains committed to regarding Yangpu as a crucial partner and actively contributing to its innovative development.

Established in 1949, UNSW Sydney has earned renown for its excellence in engineering and business disciplines. Simultaneously, it stands as a university with a global strategic outlook, prioritizing innovation and entrepreneurship. Located in Sydney, the capital of New South Wales, UNSW's main campus solidifies its position among Australia's top eight universities. The UNSW Sydney China Center was founded by the university in 2018, with the backing of the People's Government of Yangpu District. Its main objectives include providing education consulting, facilitating academic exchanges, promoting government-enterprise partnerships, and spearheading innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives.
