On the occasion of the International Children's Day (celebrated on June 1st), in his letter in reply to the young pioneers of Xin'an Primary School in Huaian, Jiangsu Province on May 30th, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, President of the PRC and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, expressed his encouragement to them and wished them and the children of the whole country a happy holiday.

In his reply, Xi Jinping said, "your school is the alma mater of the ‘Xin'an Touring Troupe’. You expressed your pride in the red history of the school, and also talked about what you had gained from learning the history of the Party".

According to Xi Jinping, at that time, the hardy "Xin'an Touring Troupe" left its footprints in most of China under the care and leadership of the Party. It used literature and art as a weapon to arouse people's resistance to the Japanese aggregation, save China from being conquered, and spread the Party's ideas, showing a patriotic and enterprising spirit. Xi Jinping continued, "I hope that in consideration of your growth reality, you should learn the history of the Party well so that you can strengthen the resolve to follow the examples of heroes and model figures, as well as the Party from childhood. It is important that you should study hard for your ideals, temper your characters, increase your skills, and strive to realize the all-round development of moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetics and labor education."

Xin'an Primary School was founded by people's educationist Tao Xingzhi in 1929. In October 1935, 14 students of the school formed a "Xin’an Touring Troupe", which used literature and art as a weapon to publicize resistance to the Japanese aggregation and save China from being conquered. Under the care and guidance of Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai and other revolutionaries of the older generation, it publicized the Party's ideas for 17 years in a journey of more than 50,000 miles covering 22 provinces in China, striving to contribute to the victory of the Anti-Japanese War and national liberation. Recently, in their letter to General Secretary Xi Jinping, the young pioneers of the squadron of Class 8, Grade 5 in Xin'an Primary School reported the experience and lessons they had gained in learning the history of the school and the Party, and expressed their determination to inherit the red gene and strive to become a good juvenile in the new era.
