In July 1921, the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China was harassed by the French Concession patrols and moved from Shanghai to a cruise ship on the South Lake in Jiaxing. It was on this cruise ship that the great Communist Party of China was born. This cruise ship received a name, the Red Ship, which will live forever in the annals of the Chinese revolution, and the Chinese revolutionary ship sailed from here. In order to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and to further promote Party history learning and education, the Yangpu Bureau of Justice recently organized members of its central group and secretaries of the primary-level Party branch to visit the Nanhu Lake to learn the “Red Boat Spirit”, so that they can inherit the CPC’s tradition, draw strength for progress, and unite power to forge ahead.

The learning activity kicked off in a special party lecture. With the theme of "the red boat spirit makes clear to all the CPC’s founding purpose", combined with the birth and development of the Communist Party of China, Yang Xiaowei, Associate Professor at the School of Marxism of the Institute of Chinese Marxism in Shanghai, explained the scientific meaning and value of the "Red Boat Spirit" through living historical materials in a simple but profound way, so that everyone had a deeper understanding of the connotation of "the pioneering spirit of creating the world and daring to be first, the struggle spirit of standing firm in ideals and being indomitable, and the dedication spirit of building the Party for the public and being loyal to the people."

After that, the Party members and officials took a boat to the lake center island to pay homage to the red boat. They stopped by the red boat, listened carefully to the detailed introduction of the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China on the South Lake, relived the PCC’s glorious history and struggling footprint, and personally felt the magnificent vista of the revolution starting from this red boat. Through on-site visits, everyone expressed that they would internalize the "Red Boat Spirit" and externalize them in action, fulfill their original aspiration and mission with practical actions, and continue to make new advances in the building of Yangpu into an "urban area to four high standards".

Intensive exchanges for the inheritance of the CPC’s tradition

The Party Committee of the bureau carefully designed the learning route and clarified the theme, allowing the Party members to carry out the on-site Party history teaching and inspection activity with questions and thoughts, and thus raise the enthusiasm for Party history learning, promote Party members’ learning exchanges, and ensure the substantial results of Party history learning and education.

Ling Hui, Deputy Chief of the Law Popularization and Legal Governance Section: Who would have thought that such a small red boat could carry the critical mission and lead the Chinese people to set sail and brave the waves. I’m honored to come to the South Lake, Jiaxing, where the CPC’s founding purpose set sail, and to trace the footsteps of the Chinese communists in the early days, which enables me to comprehend the original aspiration and mission and draw strength for progress from the century-year history of the Party.

Xue Xingwei, deputy director of the Dinghai Road Office of Justice: The "Red Boat Spirit" is a valuable asset of our Party. For one hundred years, this spirit has inspired the Communists to work tirelessly and tenaciously, and use practical actions and responsibility to create the tenets of serving the people, pragmatism, and integrity. It is also with strong spiritual support like the "Red Boat Spirit" that our Party can remain vigorous, stand on the trend of the times, and lead the Chinese nation from standing up, getting rich, becoming strong to getting rejuvenated step by step.

Zhu Bowen, deputy director of the Yinxing Office of Justice: From a small party with only 58 members to the governing Party in China today, what the Communist Party of China hinges on is the Red Boat Spirit." As a Party member, I hope to carry forward the "Red Boat Spirit" in my work, make bold innovations and changes, and give part of myself away.

Li Xingxin, secretary of the Party branch of SYNC Technology Law Group: The red boat is the starting point for our Party to lead the people of the whole country to seek rejuvenation. As a Party member in the new era, we must always keep firm in mind the CPC’s founding purpose, put our heart and soul into the well-being of the people. In our work, we should work hard, get down to work and shoulder responsibility to help keep our Party youthful and vigorous, stay firm at the forefront of the era, and lead the Chinese nation for great renewal step by step.
