Deputy Head Wang Hao Visits Jiangwan Stadium, SUS Science Park 2020-07-03

On June 30, Wang Hao, Deputy Head of Yangpu District, visited Jiangwan Stadium and SUS Science Park for a survey. Heads of the Sports Bureau of Yangpu District, the Shanghai Municipal Administration Center of Sports Venue and Facilities, Shanghai University of Sport (SUS), Jiangwan Stadium and SUS Science Park accompanied Wang for the survey.

Wang headed for Jiangwan Stadium to inspect venue facilities and listen to an introduction. Designed by Dong Daqiu, a renowned Chinese architect, it was the largest stadium in the Far East and is an important general sports venue in Yangpu. It consists of a stadium, a gymnasium and natatorium. Apart from its own venue facilities, the stadium has brought in renowned fitness enterprises like Rucker Park and LA Fitness. With a rich sports atmosphere, it hosted the National Games in the period of the Republic of China and the 5th National Games. In May 2017, AFL, the top Australian football league, made its debut in China and the first AFL overseas premiership points match was held here. Besides, a lot of national fitness events take place here every year.

Though sports venues are limited, we should make good use of the precious sports facilities resources of Jiangwan Stadium, to bring in sports events in the way of win-win cooperation, and deliver more impressive sports events and rich sports services to Yangpu's citizens, said Wang.

Then Wang visited SUS Science Park next to SUS, and held talks with heads of SUS and SUS Science Park. Established in SUS in November 2009, approved as a "national university science park" by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Education, the park is the only national university science park in China's sports field, as well as the first "sports technology demonstration park" named by the General Administration of Sport of China.

After years of development, SUS Science Park has incubated a number of outstanding sports enterprises like Yuedong, DF Fit and Shangti Health, and many of them have become leading enterprises in relevant fields. The park is gradually becoming an independent innovation and R&D base for sports technology enterprises, a sports technology achievement transformation and incubation base, a characteristic sports industry agglomeration base and a sports innovation & startup talent training base in China.

Wang noted that SUS should continue to play its role in talent training, and build a training channel for competitive sports talents, social health managers and other sports talents. As a top national sports science park, SUS Science Park should not only attract enterprises by preferential rental policies, but also serve small & medium-sized sports enterprises in project planning and consultation, in a bid to build a real sports technology innovation incubator in Shanghai.
