"Yanji Cup" Venture Contest Hosted at the Main Ve...
On 20 September, the 7th Shanghai Yangpu "Yanji Cup" Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition concluded at Changyang Campus of Yangpu, which was one of the series of activities held during the week. After fierce competition and strict marking by the jury comprising the masters of venture capital, "sugar treasure - a non-invasive glucose meter project based on multi-information fusion, and "original-fun small white robot project" won the first prize of university student category and enterprise category respectively. 


To encourage youth innovation and entrepreneurship, the organizing committee, by working together with Yangpu Tencent Maker Space, Technology Park of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Ant Maker and Yanji University Student Entrepreneurship Home, provided all the players who entered the finals with an "entrepreneurship gift pack" that allowed for free renting, free registration, recommendation for venture capital and other supporting policies. Two enterprise winners won a 6 million Yuan venture capital respectively. 


Present at the event were Shen Min, Vice chairman of China Overseas Chinese Association, Party Committee Secretary and Chairman of Shanghai Overseas Chinese Association, Yu Jie, part-time deputy secretary of  Municipal Youth League Committee, Li Rong, Vice President of the Municipal Women's Federation, and Yangpu leaders including Li Yuqi, Tai Xun, and Li Yaping. 


"Yanji Cup" Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, a traditional event hosted by Yangpu, has been successfully held for seven years. After successfully holding the sixth competition, the organizing committee reformed the competition system this year, thus attracting participants from all over the country, including Hong Kong.


Macao and Taiwan. Out of the total 488 competing projects , 140 passed the primary selection and entered the quarter-final in the four categories for graduate, women, people from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and young entrepreneur elite competition. In the end, 24 participants entered the finals. 


A review of the projects show that participants focused more on intelligent life, green environment, sharing economy and leisure and entertainment to start their business, and their projects included intelligent robot, real-time visibility warning system ensuring safe travel at a hazy day, environmentally friendly gold powder colored ink, shared reading platform, and animation virtual interaction popular among the youth. In short, it was indeed an enlightening and inspiring event. During the six-month competition, the organizing committee also worked with the "direct 990" staff of Shanghai News and Radio to hold two entrepreneurship instruction classes for the contestants, and invited experts to offer face-to-face guidance for entrepreneurship. A total of 8.92 million people watched the competition broadcast live online. 


According to the organizer, on the eve of the finals, a good news came from Xi'an that the "sugar treasure - a non-invasive glucose meter project based on multi-information fusion" selected and sent by USST and "Yanji Cup" organizing committee won the silver award at the third China "Internet +" College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, and signed a contract for a 10 million Yuan venture fund.
