Yangpu-MIT "Technology Innovation and Transport" ...
Recently the Yangpu-MIT "Technology Innovation and Transport" Symposium, hosted by the Yangpu Science and Technology Commission, the Yangpu Intellectual Property Administration and Yangpu Science & Technology Innovation (Group) Co., Ltd., organized by the National Eastern Tech-Transfer Center (NETTC), was held at NETTC.

At the symposium, James R Freedman, Deputy Director of the Technology Licensing Office (TLO), MIT, delivered a speech entitled "Best Practice of Technology Innovation and Transfer", sharing his experience in the commercialization of science and technology. With focus on America's innovation & entrepreneurship system, MIT's entrepreneurship ecology system and TLO, he analyzed the impact of local policies, capital input, cultural concepts, entrepreneurship education and other factors on the current situation and trend of America's local technology transfer, correcting the universal misunderstanding of technology transfer. He noted that the core elements of technology transfer are investment, patience (time) and support, and introduced MIT's "Engine Program". Aiming at the long period of the laboratory development of core technologies and the unsustainability of capital, the program seeks a balance between early profit and innovative ideas. He concluded that the duplicable part of MIT's innovation ecosystem is its entrepreneurship mentor system, financial support to entrepreneurs, entrepreneurship education, entrepreneurship competition, technology demonstration, industry linkage and development.

In the interactive session, the two sides exchanged ideas on MIT's capital policy system, forms of patent income, inventors' rights and interests, MIT's annual fee, equity investment, patented technology protection, technology market value and potential evaluation, and the policies of the Chinese government for technology achievement transformation. All said this is a Sino-U.S. brainstorm meeting on top technology transfer fields.

The attendees also visited GO Bench and the optical laboratory on the ground floor of NETTC, Faster Manufacturing Maker Space bringing together engineers and technology teams, as well as a specialized laboratory providing technology assessment and validation.
